Friday WatchAlong: Kapoor & Sons! At 3pm Chicago Time, Right Here!

Yaaaaaay, Friday WatchAlong on FRIDAY!!!! I’m excited!!!! And a movie I have only seen once. Because I hated it.

Kapoor & Sons! It’s on Netflix in America and some other places, and readily available on youtube and googleplay and stuff too. And it has all KINDS of juicy Mother’s Day appropriate issues to discuss!

At 3pm Chicago time, I will put up an “and PLAY” comment here and then you can all comment along below! That is, I hope you will, it is a surprisingly low attendance this week 😦

    • Bronte sisters?

I’m not actually that surprised, I can imagine one brother following the other. And they were raised in the same very verbal household. And had the same education. Etc. etc. etc.

  1. Albie Dog is climbing on my lap, either because this movie is stressing him out, or because I am eating a snack.

    • If I think of it as him really wanting to help Sid, and slightly breaking boundaries, I am okay with it. He did offer to get Sid an agent and stuff in the previous scene. I can believe he feels an unknown guilt for Sid not getting the support he has, and therefore thinks “I’ll read the book, if it is good, I can get him a publisher and all that and help him out”.

But from Sid’s perspective, TOTALLY WRONG!!!! How can he trust Fawad not to subconsciously steal from him again?

  2. There’s a lot of marijuana smoking in this movie. I don’t object morally, but it’s maybe a bit lazy on the part of the scriptwriters.

  3. Great, the couple can be happy again, but what are they going to do to fix a lifetime of problems they’ve given to their children?????????

  4. Ouch, this scene with Ratna and Fawad hurts me so much inside. I HATE HER SO MUCH! And Fawad is giving an award-winning acting’s worth of vulnerability that it hurts more.

  5. Ugh, Family photos are so stressful!!!! My family never had anything even close to this kind of drama, and family photos were still stressful.

    • Mine are almost always like this. Look perfect and smile. They aren’t relaxed and there isn’t even an option for a “funny picture” to be made -everything has to be either family chat or Instagram worthy. Yea, my family is complicated.

  6. RATNA!!!!! Maybe he wasn’t serious about anything because you always told him he wasn’t serious about anything???

  7. She’s so HORRIBLE!!!! This is the thing I can’t get over. She rejected Fawad because he wasn’t perfect, but MAYBE that could be a moment of weakness. What she did to Sid was thought out and she knew exactly the choice she was making.

  8. If I were writing this movie, I would have skipped this death. Instead, I would have left it at the sons walking away from their parents, and checked back in 6 months to see Fawad sending Sid M. a letter from his agent, and an invite to his wedding. And then Sid M could go to Fawad’s wedding, and he arranged for Alia to be there because he wants them to get together. And when they minister asks who is there to represent Fawad’s family, Fawad could say “Sid M is my only family”. And then we would be HAPPY.

  9. Does he mean, “I need some time” as in “my mother is a demon in human form and I can’t be around her” or as in “I can’t get my head around my brother being gay”? I think the first. Right? He is surprised, but not judgey or anything?

  10. Why does she get to have a happy ending???? She is TERRIBLE!!!!! She should fail in her business and be stuck taking care of grumpy Rishi forever!!!!

  11. It’s true, Rishi has done nothing wrong this whole movie. Watching it again, I think maybe it’s not a terrible family? I think it’s just a terrible couple that should have gotten divorced years ago?

  12. Oh, I just got it! they hadn’t kissed before! They had the spin the bottle almost, and then a whole bunch of other almosts. But now they can be in love for real. that’s nice, they are two decent people who deserve happiness.

    • I hope it lasts only until Rishi (in the movie) does and then when she’s back to her normal bad self at some point both of them run for the hills and never look back

  13. Ah yes, let us all remember the gaslighting cheater who bankrupted us.

(I know there is a nice message about accepting flaws and all and remembering the good times and stuff, but I don’t think the film earned it. the parents are TERRIBLE! Leave them behind you!)
