Friday WatchAlong: Kapoor & Sons! At 3pm Chicago Time, Right Here!

Yaaaaaay, Friday WatchAlong on FRIDAY!!!! I’m excited!!!! And a movie I have only seen once. Because I hated it.

Kapoor & Sons! It’s on Netflix in America and some other places, and readily available on youtube and googleplay and stuff too. And it has all KINDS of juicy Mother’s Day appropriate issues to discuss!

At 3pm Chicago time, I will put up an “and PLAY” comment here and then you can all comment along below! That is, I hope you will, it is a surprisingly low attendance this week 😦

    • Yes! Especially in contrast to the rest of the family. Yes, he is indulgent and they are silly, but it’s grandparents!

  1. RATNA! I hate you!!!!! Apparently she has been letting Sid believe this whole time that Fawad stole his book from her, she didn’t give it?

  2. I don’t love Alia’s casting in this. I think a slightly older actress would have been really interesting, make it kind of a thing of the successful older woman picking between the drifting through life younger man, or the sophisticated older man.

  3. He’s such a horrible husband, and yet she is a worse mother than he is a husband! I refuse to accept the “his terrible husbanding lead her to become a terrible mother” theory!!!!

Also, sucky sucky Fawad playing into the “all men together” concept.

      • I think also because his mother trained him that way. He was always the little boy in charge of cheering up his Mom, so he learned how to do that. While Sid M was the little boy yelled at and chased out of the house, so he learned to do that.

    • No no! They aren’t rich! They are in debt! Despite having food, a house, and a servant. Rich people money is so confusing. Sid M’s “I have to find money for a plane ticket” money problem I can understand so much better.

        • UGH!!!!! I wish the film had done more with Sid M. making it on his own. It’s there, we learn that Rajit tried to start his own business and is failing, and Ratna isn’t allowed to start a business. And Fawad can’t right without a prompt from Sid m. I want them to make it clearer that the people who are “supposed” to be good with money are actually TERRIBLE, and the ones who aren’t, actually are good with it.

    • I bet he is so used to IRL for women (and perhaps men too) just staring at him without a word. He is after all the Tom Hiddleston of South Asia in terms of looks, charisma and talent.

  4. That was a really cute first date. Or, alternatively, a really pleasant getting to know you new friendship spending time together.

  5. also, before we get too far past it, can I point out that Ratna went to the effort of setting Fawad up with someone at the party, but never even bothered to meet the woman Sid had brought to a family party???? She just has no interest in he ryounger son!
