Monday Morning Questions Post: What Do You Want to Ask Me as I Recover From a Wonderful Tiring Day?

Happy Monday! The kids came up yesterday after all!!!! And BOY, 9-10 year olds have a LOT of energy. Makes you tired just talking to them.

Here is where you get to ask me anything you want from “when are you reviewing Mimi?” to “why don’t you post any more, do you not love us?” Just keep swinging back here all week as you things to ask.

I’ll answer my own question, I haven’t been posting the past few days because kids are EXHAUSTING!!! The family we invited up came yesterday for 5 hours. The kids had to change clothes 3 times, there were two spills to be mopped up, one internicine quarrel (“she hit me with a stick!” “I didn’t hit him HARD!”), and no tears. And that all happened because my parents and I spent the previous day preparing activities and food and stuff, and then the day of running around like mad people, and it all did not leave time for blogging. And then this morning I overslept (I wonder why?) and had to rush rush to start work.

But now I’m here! And I have a question for you! If you could hit a movie star with a stick (not hard), who would you hit?

I’d hit Ranbir! I think he needs more stick hitting in his life. And I wouldn’t hit him HARD.

  1. i would hit him hard. I would also hit Salman and probably Akshay. I also think it would do Amitabh good to be hit, but we’d have to time travel because I’d feel bad hitting a frail old man (although I have 0 arm strength and he probably wouldn’t feel it). Honestly, just let me loose in Bombay with a stick.

  2. I’m back from my holidays and when today I checked the blog and saw you haven’t written since Saturday I was so worried! Glad to see you and your grandpa are ok ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Yep, we’re fine! Just tired. I don’t know how you deal with a 10 year old boy every single day without a break. I did 5 hours and need a day to recover.

      • I get used to it and don’t even see how lively he is. But my family in Poland was surprised he has so much energy because earlier he was the calm one and now he has the same level of energy as his peer cousin who has ADHD

        • I kept thinking about Albie Dog and his zoomies. He just has too much energy and has to run flat out back and forth for about 5 minutes. And then he calms down. Seems like there must be some equivelant activity for 10 year old boys.

          • Running them flat out back and forth for a while might also work. Sometimes they can be convinced if you time them with a phone. I’ve been known to invent obstacle courses on the fly when I needed to sit and not be spoken to for a spell.

          • I forgot, that was my trick to run out the clock at the end of Sunday School! Not running back and forth unfortunately, but it was real easy to trick kids with “stand on your head and I’ll time you”. Why? There is no purpose to it! And yet somehow, being timed made it exciting.

  3. I donโ€™t have any questions but Iโ€™m happy for you that youโ€™re getting to live life and enjoy the world outside instead of being so attached to your blog. But I do miss all your BW posts.

As for who to hit with a stick, the answer is always Priyanka Chopra. I have the same knee jerk reaction to her that you have towards Ranbir.

    • Thank you for being happy for me! I’m happy for me too. While also hoping that things calm down again in a bit so I can get back to regular posting

  4. Iโ€™m so happy your grandfather is okay. I was a bit worried about you too when I saw that you hadnโ€™t posted since Saturday. But, I was hoping it was just because you were enjoying real humans.

Also, yes, little boys are exhausting! I spent the weekend at my best friendโ€™s house a few weeks ago with her two boys and his two boy cousins and by the end of the weekend, I had a minor panic attack. They talk and know so much about dinosaurs, cars, and legos. All of which I have no interest in!!! Can we just discuss superheros please? I can get behind that! Anyways, Iโ€™m still reeling from that weekend, so I cannot imagine how exhausted you must me.

Okay, two questions for you. First, will you be reviewing Mimi or maybe doing a discussion post if you donโ€™t plan to review it? Just like Toofan, Iโ€™ll watch Mimi but your review of Toofan was so helpful to ensure that (1) I donโ€™t rush to watching it (or showing it to my dad who also enjoys sports movies but would be equally annoyed at the Paresh Rawal character and the religious tones) and itโ€™s important that I only show him only fun Indian movies so he keeps watching them with me, and (2) I go into it either with low expectations/ or knowing I will be mad. My plan is to watch Toofan with my sister this week so we can just yell at the TV and vent to each other. I think thatโ€™ll make watching Toofan fun!

Second, how about a watchalong on Sunday since you are busy Friday and Saturday? I have something from 9:15 am CT to 12:00 pm CT but I am available before or after. I had to miss the last two Fridays because workโ€™s been insane. ๐Ÿ˜• If you decide on Friday again, Iโ€™ll try my best to make it. I miss the watchalongs!

Good luck with your next move!!! You are getting so close to the finally settling in!

    • Little boys are SO EXHAUSTING! To be fair, this was a boy and girl set, one of each, and the little boy was just a hair worse than his sister. “Worse” meaning “wonderful”, obviously. But yes, they knew so much about so many things for which I had no context, and so little about other things (like, how to drink from a glass without spilling). Sounds like you also had some wonderful times with Real Life Humans lately.

I will be reviewing Mimi, at some point when I HAVE A LIFE AGAIN. Possibly/hopefully soon, I promised Dina she could be my first house guest at my REAL place and we would watch a movie, and Mimi is right up our alley. Very much looking forward to you watching Toofan and confirming my assessment. UGH! Old men who can’t handle the world not needing them! UGH! Not Grandpa, Grandpa’s great, and learned all about Indian films because I told him it was important. But other old men.

Yes, Sunday would be great!!!! Friday and Saturday, obviously, are my last minute rush around days. But with any luck, Sunday I can just spend half an hour setting up my campsite and then relax before the storm of workpeople (locksmith/painters/junkmen come on Monday, cleaners on Tuesday, painter again on Thursday, plumber on Friday)

  5. Ha! This is funny because it’s my life. But yes, they talk a lot and have a lot of energy. The Spanish have a saying, this one doesn’t stop talking even underwater, that is my 11-year-old. My 8-year-old is less of a talker but needs to be exercised or he starts climbing on people.

Hm, having just watched Dangal I think I would hit Aamir with a stick. Not too hard but maybe a little bit hard.

    Like

    • HA! That saying is something I have seen in reality! As I am sure you have as well. you know when you are lifeguarding/swimming with a little kid? And they start telling you a long and involved story? And then they forget to kick their legs and their head bobs under for a second and they bob up again? But they keep talking, so you lose half a sentence to them being underwater. Not that it matters, because it’s not like you can ever follow the story anyway.

Anyway, greatest compliment, yesterday morning their Mom wrote to thank me and tell me what a great time they had. And also that they were STILL ASLEEP. At 10am!!!! So we successfully ran down their batteries.

        • Yes. Poor guy doesn’t have friend to talk about those things so I try to listen and answer but how many hours a day one can listen about the thing he/she doesn’t care at all?

          • When I was little, my Grandpa patiently listened to me talk away to him about the Wizard of Oz series. He reported to my parents “I don’t understand what she is saying, but it sure sounds interesting”.

          • No se calla ni debajo del agua ;). They must have a version of that saying in Italian.

I admit to sometimes telling them I don’t care, especially when they’re droning on about video game stuff. If a kid does reading or research or practice and wants to tell me about their passion I feel they should be supported. But video games, nah, don’t feel the same obligation.

  6. It’s Kriti Sanon’s birthday! Yay! Maybe I will be watch Raabta to celebrate because it is just so much fun! Oooh, unless you want you want to watch it also and it could be one of the options for the Sunday watchalong. Oh or Bareilly Ki Barfi. I love that movie also.

  7. I just read the other post you wrote and have a question about your moving plan: So you are moving all your stuff to the basement and then make some works in your part of the house like colour the walls etc or will put the furniture right away in the rooms and make the renovation later? Or maybe there’s no need of renovation? Sorry for being too inquisitive but I’m just curious.

    Like

    • It’s because of the tenants. Almost all my stuff is in storage, I just have the bare minimum with me, like clothes and pillows to sit on the floor. My friends are moving into their unit 24 hours before the downstairs tenants move out and I want to get my stuff out of their way. So my clothes and pillows go to the basement for 24 hours, and once the tenants are gone, it goes up to my unit.

I am having work done, but I don’t have to, the unit is absolutely liveable as is. I’m getting a new sink because I hate the sink, and I am having the walls painted just to make them pretty. I’m trying to schedule the delivery of my stuff from storage to happen after painting, just to make it easier on the painter. But I will (hopefully) be sleeping there every night and 100% living there starting August 1. Even without furniture and with people painting around me.

      • I was asking to know if we can celebrate and wish you happy settle down day on August 1st or it will be too soon because of all the work that still has to be done.
But btw didn’t the time go by very quickly? I remember when you said the tenants will leave the house August 1st and it seemed so far, and now we are almost here already ๐Ÿ™‚

        • I remember we said they would leave August 1, and I thought “that feels like forever, but I bet once I look back on it, it won’t feel that bad”.

I’m shooting for September 1 as my really really settled deadline. It’s all gonna be incremental until then, after painting and everything, there is still getting the kitchen unpacked and all the basic steps between here and being able to have a normal life again.
