Sunday WatchAlong: Raabta! Reincarnation and Jim Sarbh! 1pm Chicago Time

Happy Sunday! I already walked the dog, took the bus to the house, bought coffee on the way, walked over, saw my friends’ new couch and got my hairbrush from where I stashed it, took the bus back, walked the dog again, and now I am going to watch a movie with you lovely people. The random extra day of homelessness is just going to FLY by!

Raabta! I love it, and if you don’t, you are wrong.

It’s on Prime and various other places. At 1pm Chicago time, I will put up an “and PLAY” comment and we will go from there, all together. Yaaaay!

  1. SUCH A CREEPY SONG. Makes way more sense in this context then in the original “happy silly Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi” context

  2. I love how this is feeling like a cute getting to know you convo, but there is an undercurrent of “yeah, this guy is actually nuts”. He didn’t talk until age 7? He sleeps with all the lights on?

  3. This movie is SO WELL CONSTRUCTED!!!! The same as the past is the present. Her on paper perfect guy, versus the guy she never inspected that she fell in love with. It’s not about reincarnation or destiny, it’s about two people falling in love for no reason then and now.

  4. Other cool thing, this is a reincarnation movie that is against the whole reincarnation argument! Jim is all in on the “I found you again!” argument. But Kriti and SSR fell in love without any reincarnation nonsense, they chose each other in this life.

  5. My Dad’s asking, “So who do we like? Who is the good guy?” And I can’t answer. Follow up question, “didn’t they have good haircuts in the past?”

  6. Popka, I think you’re right. The only reason for Jim to be be-sleeve when no one else is, is if they are stuffing his shirt to make him look muscley. Poor dude.

  7. You know this same plot is happening in Dick Tracy right now? Mysta the Moon Maid has been kidnapped, but her kidnapper is spreading a false story that she is engaged and on her honeymoon.

  8. Deepika’s eyeliner is so dramatic. OOH! Is Deepika’s makeup and outfit supposed to show the connection between the past and the present?

  9. It’s good they both look so great with wet hair, no one will suspect something strange is happening when they see them walking down the street.

  10. I adore it that SSR never remembers but goes along with it anyway! Another clever little twist on the reincarnation idea. Why was this film a flop?????
