Saturday Morning WatchAlong: Bang Bang! On Hulu or Einthusan or Elsewhere

Good news, Bang Bang is on Hulu! Bad news, it doesn’t have English subs. Okay news, you can complain about this be emailing captions-feedback@hulu.com with details. As I have done. And I have a faint hope they will fix it within the next few days, and I am almost sure they will fix it eventually. Anyway, Einthusan has subs.

Saturday is my Grandpa’s 100th birthday, and I want to celebrate by waking up early and watching a dumb action film with y’all! Also, Friday afternoon I may have to do airport runs and stuff, so I thought better not risk scheduling then. Saturday before 10am my time should be safe.

And what better way to start the celebration?

Bang Bang is officially on Hulu, but without subs. So those of you who are lucky enough to be fluent in Hindi (Filmikudhi) or have seen this movie so many times you don’t need subs (me), can watch it there. Everyone else, to einthusan we go!

At 7:30am Chicago time on Saturday, I will put up an “and PLAY” comment and we will go from there, admiring the MAGIFICENCE.

  1. YAY!!! What a perfect way to celebrate your Grandpa’s 100th birthday! Will your cousins be joining us? Obviously, they should because everyone should watch this movie!!!

    • I think they should too! But part of my thinking with scheduling for Saturday morning is that they can sleep in and I can ignore them.

  2. So I started watching Knight & Day, which Bang Bang is based off of. And DAMN, Bang BAng is such a better movie. First Kat’s character is better drawn, with a back story and depth. In fact in Knight and Day, the pizza hut on a mountain scene comes at 29 minutes into the film (and it is the female lead having dinner with a friend- the pizza hut on the mountain was SO MUCH MORE). Hrithik and Kat are just meeting at 29 minutes in Bang Bang. Also I’m not a Tom Cruz fan, don’t think he’s cute, don’t think he’s charming, I don’t see his appeal. And Cameron Diaz’s main attraction is that she is a tom boy, but she is a tom boy who screams a lot. I’ve stopped watching Knight & Day at less than an hour in because it just isn’t as much fun.

    • YES! This was my response as well. I saw it on cable at random sometime (best way to watch it), and I couldn’t believe how much better Bang Bang was! Totally changed almost everything about the movie, for the better.

    • Yes!!! Bang Bang is so much better than Knight and Day. In K&D, Cameron Diaz feels like she is trying to act ditzy, which can be annoying. Whereas, Kat manages the right balance between innocent and feisty without it feeling forced. Also, yes, Tom Cruise just isn’t charming to me. And you need to be OOZING charm to pull off a role like this in which you drug the heroine multiple times and still want to have the audience rooting for you and the romance!

      • I will also say, it is a plot that DEMANDS songs! Love at first sight, euphoria, illogical emotions, all of that works a lot better withs songs.

      • There is one scene taken straight from Knight & Day, in Bang Bang, that has always rubbed me the wrong way. When they are on the beach and Hrithik talks about peeking while he changed her clothes. That totally fit Tom Cruz’s character but it seemed kinda jerkish for nicer guy Hrithik. And it ISN’T CUTE. In fact, kinda creepy. So even though Hrithik does ooz charm, he doesn’t ooz enough to pull that one off.

        • YES! Hrithik is just a really nice guy, and Tom Cruise I feel like they couldn’t quite get a handle on him. Was he a cocky guy turning nice in old age? A nice guy who tried to act cocky?
