Happy Monday! Last night I got to help pick out Grandpa’s funeral clothes. Did you know he has to wear pants? Doesn’t that seem kind of silly? In fact, doesn’t all of it seem kind of silly when you think about it? Anyway, today is Monday! No funeral stuff until Thursday! WOO-HOO!!!! And on Wednesday I am supposed to get my much much MUCH delayed couch!

All my lights died last year!!!! Which makes sense since It hink I bought them on sale all at the same time about ten years ago. Anyway, I am down to just the two pitiful strings that I bought new last January.

Okay, I am starting this discussion here. I saw this trailer when it came out and I just couldn’t handle the Sara Ali Khan – Akshay romantic pairing. I’m sorry, but EWWWW!!!! Yeah yeah all heros are paried with women that are far too young. But somehow this paring in particular just CREEPED ME OUT!!!!
I felt the same way with Salman and Disha in Radhe and Salman and Sneha Ullal in Lucky: No Time for Love. Just way too weird!!!!

LOL I was also eager to talk about Akshay in this trailer. He is not only too old for Sara, he is too old for this movie and for the role! Such a bad casting. And I’m not saying this because I don’t like him. He just looks so out of place, and old and terrible.
I decided long time ago I won’t watch this film, because of Akshay but also because Zero and Raanjhanaa were such a nightmares. But watching the first part of the trailer almost convinced me to give it a try. I love Dhanush, I like Sara, I adore “Love after marriage” plots. But then Akshay arrived on the ELEFANT, and then he was all in fire and stuff and I was like: WTF is going on here? Where my sweet and nice romance went? I want it back. That’s why I think Akshay shouldn’t be in this film. Some other, younger and less famous actor should play Sara’s boyfriend. And there should be less circus ott stuff because now it looks like some odd monster made from Tanu Weds Manu and Zero rejected scenes.

I COMPLETELY AGREE with all of this!!! Akshay looks so out of place!!! Zero and Ranjhaana were terrible!!! I also didn’t like TWM as much as others did. But I really like Sara and while I don’t know much about Dhanush, their romance seemed sooo cute! And then Akshay popped up and ruined everything! And yes the circusy scenes and the OTT feel makes me think the director is still having a Tanu Weds Manu/Ranjhanaa hangover!!! Ugh!!! I am obviously going to watch this movie but might end up hate watching it!

Ooo, I do like that idea! And actually for the DCIB audience, the reverse might be really interesting. Like, if Poo was a judgey mean snobby boy who ignored the sweet traditional girl until she did a sexy song for him, we would hate Poo. And the same with Simran in DDLJ, if she was a boy who was super traditional and judgey and quick to make assumptions, we would HATE him. And love prank playing aggressive female Raj.

I was thinking of giving this one a pass since it’s a sports biopic, but . . . they do look cute. And Pankaj looks cute also. And people are criticizing the jingoism, but I’d rather have a jingoistic sports movie than a jingoistic war movie.

I am obsessed with this trailer!!! It looks so cute! I cannot wait to watch this! I don’t think I will be able to watch it in theaters, but I am can’t wait to watch it when it comes to a streaming service!

Same! Deepika and Ranveer are so cute!! Hopefully is more healthily patriotic (like Chak De India! and Lagaan) than pure awful jingoism. Looks to be the former from the looks of it, at least by the trailer.

I think it will be like the former too. Especially, since it’s India vs West Indies. I’m curious if they will show Viv Richards in the movie. You may already know this, but he played in the 83 match, he was/is a legendary batsman from West Indies, and he was on a roll to potentially crush India’s chances of winning when Kapil Dev famously outed him. But forget all that, for DCIB’s purposes, he then dated Neena Gupta and is the father of Masaba Gupta!!! Also, I think Neena is supposed to have a cameo in 83! So this is alll soo exciting!!!

I don’t follow cricket either but my dad did and was in India for the 83 match so most of what I know, I know from him. But also same! I follow filmi stuff and this was mainly exciting for me just because the Viv Richards and Neena Gupta romance was such a big deal! 😊
