Saturday Morning WatchAlong: Miracle on 34th Street! 8am Chicago Time!!!

Woot! I’m awake! Sort of! I will be making myself coffee in the middle this for sure.

Miracle on 34th Street! Make sure you get the original good black and white version, not that 90s nonsense. It’s on HBOMax if you have it, or you can rent it on youtube.

At 8am I will put up a “and PLAY” comment and we will go along from there. CHRISTMASSY!

  1. So I was watching Tim Allen’s The Santa Clause with the 7 year old last week, and right now I’m thinking oh – similar plot there.

  2. Genevieve, have you figured out who the nice man with the beard is? When my sister and I saw this movie the first time (ages 3 and 5), we figured it out immediately.

  3. A young man taking an unusual interest in a little girl without even knowing that the parents were divorced… well I wouldn’t let him anywhere near my kids.

  4. You know how she shushed her daughter away from the piano – that is me with my 13 year old – Anytime I start a conversation with an adult, or answer the phone he gets on the keyboard.

  5. the young man who plays Santa at the Y, who carries his own padding, is a relatively lean teen by my town’s standards. The combination of poverty and culture makes for very wide teenagers!

  6. Oh! This just happened to me in real life!!!! That’s why I was thinking of this movie. I ordered something from a local toy store and the told me they were out of stock, but happened to know another local store had just got it in stock and sent me there. So nice!

  7. John Payne may raise alarm bells, but isn’t Santa perfect with the kids? He is so interested in everything in their lives!!!!! Without being creepy about it.

    • She wants a swing in the backyard. I imagine they aren’t walking to parks daily, and she doesn’t know how to play with other kids. She can swing and play by herself. A swing would be good for her. However, they could set one up inside too – but that would be unusual and mom wouldn’t go for that.

  8. Neighbor is SO MEDDLING!!! I’m all down for manipulating people you know, but manipulating people you hardly know!! However he was rather effeminate when saying he was going to get the meat so I like him better if I think of him as gay. A gay man who likes kids, and isn’t try to bed the single mom is much more acceptable to me.
