Saturday WatchAlong: Happy New Year! For New Years Day! 8am Chicago Time!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! I hope everyone welcomed in 2022 in a lovely happy way, and of course my best wishes for all of my DCIB family in this new year. And now, let us begin it the RIGHT way, by watching Happy New Year the Movie.

Happy New Year

It’s on Netflix, it’s delightful, we’ve all seen it, what more is there to say?

At 8am Chicago time I will put up an “and PLAY” comment and we will all go from there!

  1. Okay, this romance is very “problematic” as the kids say. But my interpretation is that Charlie falls in love at first sight, but is afraid of it and trying to talk himself out of it because he doesn’t like not being in control. And that’s why he keeps saying bad things about Dips.

  2. Love this song! Also, hadn’t realized until this watch that we have almost an hour without songs, and then two almost back to back.

  3. Also, this song supports the “he was in love at first sight and is running from it” theory. Since we can see that both of them are literally “sparking”

  4. This is the little bit they cut from the song video trailer, and it’s my favorite part of the song, seeing her at work dreaming of him.

  5. When l first saw it, l was totally baffled by deeps crushing on the older rat-faced chap with the awful hair choices. I mean, Sonu is right there. I knew nowt of the power of the SRK persona, had never seen him before

  6. Okay, here’s what is confusing. If this is her stealing the inspiring speech from Chak De, in this universe was Shahrukh Khan the lead int hat movie? And he happens to look just like Charlie?

  8. This dude! He’s in a lot of movies, and I found an interview with him once. Nice guy, born and raised in India, just happens to look central Asian. So he takes all the Central Asian-y roles.

  9. THIS MOVIE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED FOR AN OSCAR!!!! Not saying it would have won, but it would have been a better choice than freakin’ Barfi
