Happy Wednesday!!! This post comes to you from Midway airport where I am watching the bags while Mom is in the bathroom.
I’ll start!
Reading: A Gift of Wings, of course, in preparation for this trip.
Watching: I haven’t seen it yet, but I’m gonna catch up on Ms Marvel soon. Maybe a good mother-daughter show?
Thinking: Did you know airport counters aren’t always open? We got here 2 and half hour early, like sane people, and the counter isn’t staffed!

I hope you and your mom have the best trip! Re: Ms. Marvel. I watched the latest episode with no context and the second half was all about mothers and daughters. I think it’s a great one to watch with your mom.

On a separate note, I had no idea that counters are not always open because we have NEVER EVER been to the airport early. On this past trip, husband, baby, and I got to the airport 10 minutes before boarding, went through security while the plane was boarding, and made it in the plane as the nice lady was announcing final boarding call before they closed the doors. Moral of the story: Don’t be us!

Oh boy, just wait until Baby starts school! My memory of school days is a mad dash through the door juuuuuuuuust as it closed. Thank goodness we had late in the alphabet names so we were able to sneak in before our teachers noticed we were missing for roll call.

Oh that is bound to happen! My MIL has said that my husband always snuck into first period at the very last minute EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Have a great time! My mom loved the Anne/Emily books and I thought it would be nice to see PEI with her, but she wasn’t much of a traveler. Anyway, enjoy!
I saw Jana Gana Mana on Netflix. It tackles a large number of things ripped from today’s headlines, not always successfully. You need a notebook and pencil nearby to keep track of all the twists in the last 15 minutes. Prithviraj looks great with salt and pepper beard and hair. There’s quite a lot of declaiming in the movie, but it’s in his wonderful voice. I don’t know what was going on with the makeup artist; every woman except the main character looks like she’s wearing spackle.

Yay, GoW 🙂
I did know that counters aren’t always open since I have a bad habit of being hours and hours early for flights. I was once at the airport at 530 a.m. for a 12:30pm flight!

Did anyone watch KWK here? I was looking forward to it but found it quite mild and toothless! Don’t have high hopes for the rest of the season.

I did and my first thought was, that was soooo boring!!!

Right?!! That too with Ranveer, though he did his best.

Exactly! Ranveer was the saving grace. Geez. It was like Alia was given strict instructions that she is now part of the Kapoor khandaan and has to act as such. Why be on the show if you are not going to bring anything to it?!
Also, if I didn’t like Ranbir already, her comments that Ranbir is “very traditional.” He makes fun of her because she doesn’t know how to do a proper aarti. He told her that he wants to have the Diwali pooja at his house and she has to make that happen. And if that wasn’t bad enough, Alia saying “I’ve been through so many moments of culture and family because of the Kapoor family.” UGH!!!!!
Separately, why was Alia shouting for the first half of the show?

I’m not sure if this makes me more or less ready to watch it. At least something interesting to see?

Up to you if you want to watch it. It’s just so so so boring! But then again, I’m not sure what else there is to watch right now.

Alia came all prepared to deliver a thesis on her courtship to marriage journey 🙂 Her talking about Ranbir teaching her ‘culture’ made me think of Poo in K3G being schooled by Hrithik – it’s all cute and funny in the movies, not so much in real life!
I miss the snark and bite of the earlier seasons. No amount of ‘sexual’ content can replace that.
Yes Margaret watch it, at least we can all crib together! Also Ranveer was genuinely entertaining.

You are so right!!! It is like Poo and Hrithik!!!! And yes, cute in a movie. Super icky in real life.

Please, can we stage a UN intervention to free her?

Movie plot!!!! Feminist fans save famous actress and radicalize her! And maybe she becomes a lesbian and falls in love with the sister of a fan who wasn’t really a fan but agreed to help with the kidnapping as a political gesture?

Man, that’s a great movie idea. Why can’t one of us be fabulously wealthy so we can finance it?

I know, right? I vote for Alia starring with Taapsee. Or maybe Ananya with Taapsee? She’s got that sweet feeling to her.

I mean, it’s got to have Alia in it. Ananya can play a friend.

Have you seen the movie I Wanna Hold Your Hand? I think a loose remake of that would be perfect. It’s about 3 teenage girls obsessed with The Beatles who sneak into their concert. One of them starts a romance with a fellow fan (male) she bonds with, one of them decides to break her engagement because life is more than just getting married young and being a perfect wife, and one of them gets the photos that start her career as a female reporter.
We can do the same thing, our fan group is a cute male-female couple who are both huge Alia fans and also a great happy easy healthy couple. And a girl who has decided to run off and marry her boyfriend because Alia is so happy being married and traditional. And then a sister of the Alia fan in the relationship who just wants a great story because she has Ambitions. They just want to meet Alia but they end up accidentally kidnapping her (like, one of their Dads is the concierge at a luxury hotel in their resort town, they figure out how to pretend to be her Driver and pick her up from the airport, but then get lost and end up taking her to a vacation cabin and she thinks she is being kidnapped and it all gets confused). Over the course of the film, the Good couple realize they need to expand their relationship beyond shared fandom of Alia, and that they can make it work long distance even after high school, they don’t have to break up just because it is the sensible thing (this was gonna be their one last big adventure together and part of the reason it goes wrong is they keep coming up with excuses to make it last longer so they don’t have to break up yet). And the romantic fan realizes Alia’s marriage sucks and she shouldn’t model her life after that. And Alia realizes her life sucks, and also she is modeling unhealthy behavior for her fans and ruining their lives (both the girl who is ready to get married young, and the couple who is ready to break up because they think break up or marriage are their only two options). And also, she falls in love with the older ambitious reporter. 6 months later, Alia is single officially but goes everywhere with her new “manager” who is the reporter who is enjoying being able to control the narrative instead of just reporting it. The Good couple are both following their dreams in separate cities but still talking every day and enjoying their relationship. And the girl who was gonna run away and get married is living at home and working at a job she enjoys and continuing to grow up and find herself.

I would watch this like ten times. Actually I would kind of love just any lesbian romance with Alia, I think it would suit her?

They are adorable together. But also just adorable in general. They both looked so young in the movie. And of course Dilip Kumar was perfection!

Yeah, Dilip was really great in it. It’s a shame so many people don’t watch ChiChi’s earlier movies because they’re most of his best work. I feel like even the dancing gets samey once he gets stuck in David Dhawan purgatory.

If anyone has a way to watch it outside of Disney+ (I don’t have a subscription), let me know. I’ve only seen clips, but I do wanna see the whole thing, despite the ickiness. I did see the part about Diwali pooja and it gave me such a gross feeling, Alia almost pressured into doing that. A man who says he’s “traditional” just really puts me off. And the clip that was going around a lot was Alia talking about the proposal, gushing on and on about how he planned it all out and surprised her and she was so emotional, but he did it on a hill and got their tour guide to take pictures. Like, doing it in a meaningful way and getting pictures is the bare minimum, girl, stop being brainwashed.
Although Ranveer cackling for two minutes straight at Alia’s old screen name was a real highlight.

I watched it on Hulu. Not sure if you have Hulu but if you do, see if you can access it that way.
