Woot, Dilwale! For Christmas! Kind of! Anyway, it feels Christmassy to me. And a nice relaxing way to spend a Sunday morning. Oh, and since RSVPs were low, reminder that if no one shows up within the first 15 min, I will just reschedule.
Dilwale! It’s on Netflix, should be easy to find no matter where you are in the world.

At 8am I will put up an “and PLAY” comment and we will go from there!
I love Kajol’s dress here. And it’s the same style in later scenes too. When I was growing up, my Mom’s “nice occasion dress” was this style, shirtdress with big skirt and belt.

people talk of the rain in Indian movies to make the women’s clothes stick them, but forget Kajol, we want to see SRK in a wet shirt!!

I know I say this every time, but it’s true every time. This was the song where Kajol was most nervous after 2 years away. And I feel like you can see that, SRK sort of guiding and taking care of her so there’s this real world caring that layers on top of the character’s love story and just makes it lovely.

That whole sequence could totally be a song video on it’s own. I mean, an American style music video where you get the mood of the older lovers meeting again. Add on an epilogue where they both go back to other spouses, and you really have something lovely and bittersweet.

Also, Rocky is SO GOOD. I want to watch it again. Really, that love story is up there with the best ever, actually the whole movie is right up there. Including the fact that “Italien Stallion” is treated as a sort of silly name.

I haven’t seen Rocky in so long. All I remember, is that it is actually a good movie.

Explaining the whole plot to the seven year old (who turns 8 this week) kinda shows the silliness of the whole – she thinks he killed her father gunplay.

Hasn’t the seven year old seen this movie before? Or has he just wandered in for car chases and then wandered out again?

He can’t read English – he mostly remembers cars.

Just like my nephew!!! His current favorite “movie” is Blues Brothers, meaning the 3 minute car chase bit that is the only part he’s seen or is interested in seeing.

Normally I am anti the “loyalty to family over love” plot. But in this case a) it’s SRK! He’s the best! and b) it feels less like loyalty to family and more like basic self-respect and not being willing to roll over.

Thank you for the watch a long Margaret!!! That was fun. I haven’t seen the movie in a while, and I do really like it. I was going to take the kids to a Christmas village in the mountains, but there is such a big storm I’m worried we would be burried in an avalanche. So now I think our day may entail a lot more TV, yet I don’t think anything else we watch will be as fun.
Thanks again!
