Sunday WatchAlong: Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na! Light, Happy, a Good Wake Up on the Day to Spring Forward! 7:30am Chicago Time (Don’t Forget the Time Change!)

Oh my, I forgot the time change. And then I remembered. And more importantly, my phone remembered, so I am actually awake.

Jaane Tu….Ya Jaane Na

Back when nepotism was exciting and not unfair, we were all super pumped about Aamir Khan’s nephew being launched. And he was cute! And funny! And super super charming!!! And the whole freakin’ movie was super super charming too. Watch it with me and be charmed. Oh, and it’s on Netflix.

At 7:30am Chicago time, I’ll put up an “And PLAY” comment here and we will start together and keep commenting!

  1. Oh, Genevieve, other thing you missed. His Mom is a social worker who has raised him to believe in talking and non-violence and so on. His Dad is dead but has fights with his Mom in his portrait over how she is raising Imraan to be non-violent.

  2. Oh oh! That little “two girls in his arms” move, that was a straight up Kuch Kuch call back. With Meghan in the Tina position and Aditi in the Anjali.

  3. Husband has been on kid duty over the last three days because I have been sick and apparently it is the Wild Wild West. Kid is still in bed, dog slept in the basement bed with the husband. Apparently everyone is getting Dunkin Donuts for breakfast.

  5. Actually, the cowboys were in the right? They weren’t feeling her up or anything, and this dude was the one grabbing her.

  6. Pratiek sees Genelia’s boyfriend for exactly who he is. Way to go Prateik. And way to tell Aditi right away. Also love that he shared his thoughts just with Aditi and not his parents. It should be Aditi’s decision to break up with him.

  7. I am so worried about Genelia in this relationship. Get out of here! Doesn’t matter if you are in love with Jai or not, this guy is creepy and bad news.

  8. I first watched this movie when I was 23 and I have to admit I missed almost all the red flags with this dude. So I guess it’s realistic that Aditi would be all “he’s cool, he’s adventorous, he’s friends aren’t that different from mine”

    • Agreed. I think she goes into it initially thinking okay his ex must be similar to her relationship with Jai. However, nothing about Sushant is like any of Aditi’s friends.

  9. I love this scene. Sushant can’t take that his ex moved on and acts like a complete a$$. No matter how jealous Genelia or Imraam were, they never acted like jerks.

  10. I love that Imraan senses right away that something is wrong with Jai. His expression changes. He makes sure Jai knows that Aditi has people in her corner. He gets the same expression he had when the police officer (Paresh Rawal) goes too far with Ranta. It isn’t silly jealousy in the beginning with he meets Sushant. It is a sense that something isn’t right.

  11. I find Meghna the most fascinating character in this movie. Her combination of delusion and self-awareness, and that she is actually a good caring person with a real heart and emotions. And that Jai is part of her journey just as she is part of his. I want a Meghna sequel! Show her working through this stuff and being happy!

    • Yes. And she also knew Aditi was engaged before Imraan did and just casually suggested that she will cook for him that day because she knew he needed comfort.

  12. I love this dialogue between Imraan and Meghna. She flatly explains that she knows what she’s doing. She is not ready to deal with her trauma yet and asks him not to push her to do so until she is ready. And then she breaks up with him. So mature. So real.

  13. YES!!! YES YES YES!!!! I can’t believe this is the only movie that used a horse riding through empty Bombay as a visual, it’s soooooooooo gorgeous.
