Jawan Trailer! I Don’t Understand, He is His Own Father???

I am very confused by this whole thing. Which is the point, I am confused yet intrigued and curious and eager to watch the film and figure it out. Good job Trailer!

So we’ve got sweet as sugar Vijay Sethupathi playing an evil arms dealer, SRK playing a Noble cop (army officer?), and then an older/bald SRK taking a train hostage. Plus Deepika is in there, and I think I recognize Nayanthara as a female cop, officer SRK refuses to work with Vijay Sethupathi, and then bald/care worn SRK says something about avenging his son?

What with the mustaches, there might also be a flashback? In which case I’m thinking it might be like Mersal (another recent Atlee film) where the father and son have the same enemy, in flashback and present. But while in Mersal the son avenged the father, perhaps it is opposite here? Peaceful retired army officer Dad comes back after his son is attacked?

But the real moment of the trailer, the shivers down your spine moment, is when he says not to come for his son. That must have been so satisfying for SRK. In real life, he had to be a Reality Hero and give measured statements and hire lawyers and play the long game. But in the movie, he can just beat up anyone who comes for his child.

  3. I just want to say I am so THANKFUL for this trailer, because the song releases were NOT making me excited about his movie, but now I am excited. I so , so, so, so want evil hijaker SRK. And if it is all for show and he is not really evil that is fine, but according to this trailer it is a BIG part ot the film and SRK on that train is my favorite SRK. And while I don’t “get it”, at least the trailer had English subtitles, so I got something. LOTS of women featured in this movie, with roles big enough to have lines in the trailer. That is fun. And I really like Sanya Malhotra.

  4. Weren’t we discussing after the prevue thing that SRK might be playing father and son?

I was trying to figure out the trailer but then saw that wiki has a whole summary with character relationships – ‘Vikram Rathore is a former commando, who, now pulls off heists around the country with a team of six women. One day, they hijack the Mumbai Metro. In a parallel story, Vikram soon learns that his long-lost son, Azaad Rathore, is a police officer and being targeted by the fourth biggest weapons dealer in the world and his former nemesis, Kalee. He sets out to right his wrongs by destroying Kalee once and for all, whilst also making the government meet his demands.’ Deepika Padukone in a special appearance as Vikram’s wife and Azaad’s mother.

I’m surprised that he seems to playing father and son in the same timeline? They might share the screen?

  6. I was thinking Bigil but instead of the son the father gets a bigger role playing the villain. Vijay Sethupathi is shown young and later with white hair.
Older SRK with the handlebar moustache has a fight and song with Deepika while the younger SRK is clean shaven and is paired with Nayanthara. Hence the reprise of Ramaiyya Vastavaiyya when the older SRK stomps in cigar and all to say to touch his son you go through him.
Curious to see where Atlee fits in the Vijay cameo. Am quite sure there will be one.
Gives me major Vikram and Jailer vibes with the father retribution track.
As a commando he says we give our life again and again but for the nation and not for nation selling fellows like Kali. Then there is all that pathos with children and women and an entire village being razed – perhaps that is how the father and son get estranged. Instead he picks up the 6 girls who are identified as part of his gang.
The action is going to be loud and non stop !

    • I’m gonna guess Vijay is a friend role. Like, fellow cop, or fellow soldier, who we see in passing and shares philosophy conversation with SRK about what it means to be cop and/or soldier. Sort of tying them together as fellow larger than life heroes.

  8. I love that the villain is capitalist arms dealer. Wealthy goons trading others’ lives is a real theme in RL India. Yes the son dialog, so chilling. He said in the pre release event yesterday that Priyamani or someone is playing his mother in the film? It must be in the village setup.

It looks so good and exciting!!!
I feel that the women are initially going to help infiltrate his rebellious organization and will later end up joining him or one of him later. The multiple roles – yes very confusing

    • I was thinking of you!!!! And he’s gonna be old and young! Best Vijay! Of course he will also be violent and evil, so not Best Vijay.

      • Old, young and cuddly!

Now let’s keep out fingers crossed I can see the movie here. I heard Jawan will have even bigger opening than Pathaan, and Pathaan arrived here in Catania so I was sure also Jawan will come. But as always there are 0 news. Other countries are ready and have the list of cities and cinemas, and here nothing. Today I was tired of waiting and wrote to the multiplexes that had Brahmastra and Pathaan, but they answered they have no idea. Stupid cinemas 😦
