It looks like it could double as a doggie sweater, like Albie could be a spaceman all winter when it is cold! Also, he “was” a spaceman? Does that mean he will not be dressing up for trick or treaters?
This year the schools let kids wear their costume ALL DAY long (previously they had to change into it). And I have 0 kids going to school in a costume. The 8 year old will be a giant inflatable pikachu, which means his face will be covered and masks aren’t allowed. The 11 year old will be an 11 year old with a skull head (last year he was a 10 year old with a skull head), but once again, no masks at school… And the 14 year old will be Gandolf, but as a Freshman he was not up for going full costume force at High School, and maybe he won’t be up for it as a Sophmore or Junior or Senior either, we’ll see.
I, however, am an incredible Hag, with a gray wig (that looks a lot better than my own hair), a cloak, and lots of burlap. And as a Hag I now have to clean all the bathrooms and make the guest bed for the in-laws who are coming this afternoon. THEN I get to finish carving pumpkins and decorate our front yard tree platform so that I can drop a giant fuzzy spider on trick or treaters as they reach for candy. I LOVE HALLOWEEN!
Albie does NOT love Halloween. Albie does NOT love his costumes. Albie is NO FUN. He wears his costumes just long enough for photos, and then I release him. So he is no longer a spaceman, he is just a Normal Dog in a dog sweater with a pumpkin on it.
Ugh, the agony of school costumes! I was always worried I’d forget something, and then there was the struggle to get it on over your school clothes in time for the Halloween parade. And of course explaining what you were to everyone if, like me, you always chose to be something extremely specific and obscure.
