Well, barely on Modi. It’s like a fragment of a quote from an interview where he talked about how he wasn’t going to talk about serious things any more unless it is on a platform specifically for serious things (is he considering a run for office? Let’s start that rumor! Or does he just mean another in depth essay or interview?).
Anyway, here is his quote:
“I think the developmental clause of his governance is fantastic. I am all for modernness and development. And it will be fantastic if he takes it up and makes it for the whole country,”
I think this isn’t quite “damning by faint praise”, but it is pretty close! He likes the developmental clause, but not necessarily anything else. And he is waiting to see if Modi is successful in instituting it for the whole country.
That’s what I thought, too, at that time…he picks something where he can do a positive comment…that’s it.
I hope he will write down all the disgust he feels/felt for what dammage politics played in curtailing people’s freedom, encouraging violence and hurting him personally …in his book (that hopefully will only be published when nobody can harm him anymore) or otherwise.

I hadn’t thought about it before, but you’ve been mentioning his book a fair amount with is making me think about how it was clearly a work in progress, almost finished, and then disappeared. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had finished it, and then decided to leave it to be published only after his death.

I don’t think that it is finished…I am almost sure it isn’t…there still is so much happening…there still are so many dreams…and there are memories he has not yet shared…I imagine him sitting at night, sometimes, and rereading some stuff and adding or changing. Just look at what has happening since Ra.One in his life…and we only get to witness a fraction of it.
