My church did a service inspired by Krishna Janmashtani this morning. It was nice, a sort of general message of appreciating the innocence of the child, and how that can be spiritual, with lots of quotes from Swami Vivekananda. But I got so distracted hearing the slowed down instrumental version of all the hymns that I usually hear in movies!
Yes, I am aware they started as hymns. Yes, I am aware that I am a bad person for being far more familiar with the remixed version. But still! This is all I could think during the prayerful meditation to “Raghupati”.

And during the special performance of “Hare Krishna” on cello, I was torn between this:
And this:
Oh! And this!!!
And then the minister ended with the “Om Shanti” blessing, and I had a seriously hard time with him not following it with “All hot girls put your hands up.”
Nor did he precede “Om Shanti” with “la la la la, la la la la”!
So in conclusion, these movies have rotted my brain, and I should probably listen to the religious channel on Saavn for a while until I recover.

So just what kind of church is this, anyway?

Unitarian, of course! Who else would do super serious and respectful versions of Hindu hymns? 🙂
