I’m the customer support supervisor at work, which means I get my own office and a window (oooo!), but also I get to take the really complicated phone calls. And it has not been a good day for phone calls. Or maybe, it has been a good day for phone calls? What I am saying is, I have been on the phone straight through for the past 5 hours and it is beginning to get a bit stressy. I’m supposed to also do a bunch of really urgent work things, and I’d like to actually respond to your comments on the blog, plus personal emails and stuff, but that’s not going to happen today. Also lunch, lunch is not going to happen. I’ve been trying to eat an apple for 5 hours, and I’m still only two bites in.Continue reading
I woke up soooooo early today. Which is good practice, because I have to wake up even earlier for my flight tomorrow. And it meant I got to watch the new songs just hours after they came out!Continue reading
So many videos today! And I don’t like ANY OF THEM. But maybe you will and can convince me to feel otherwise, that would be nice. I like liking things.Continue reading
I love Christmas, and I love Fanvids, but unfortunately it is very rare for the two of them to come together. But I do what i can! And what little I found is all in this post. (this is a reposted post)
Children’s Day in India is November 14th, because that’s Nehru’s birthday, and Nehru loved children. Isn’t that sweet? And, just like World Animal Day and all the other sub-holidays, I am marking the occasion with a theme video post. (this is an updated and reposted post from last year)
Well, I seem to have stopped sleeping. Through my own stupidity, so I am also very angry at my past self. Oh well, maybe I can stay up all night tonight and reset my internal clock.
I put up this video as part of my Friendship Day post, and it got no comments, which makes me think either no one watched it, or it isn’t as remarkable as it feels to me. And I am going slowly insane trying to figure out which it is. Please! Watch and comment and tell me I’m not crazy!
Happy Friendship Day!!!!! And Kajol’s birthday, it’s a busy day. Anyway, here is a nice little video post with some friendship videos, and you can leap in with your suggestions for more in the comments.
Filmilibrarian just said in a comment that she was trying to get back to listening to more music, and we had a nice exchange about the songs we like. And since I just put up my Ali Zafar post and need something to decompress with, and something to make us all a community even if we disagree, I thought it might be nice to have a little friendly “lets all enjoy stuff together” post.
I think maybe I should just accept that Tuesdays will always be horrible. After last week’s terrible Tuesday, I’m having another “can’t think straight because so much is happening” day at work. So I am going to be lazy and do a post just for Angie, National Police Day in Poland. Well, Angie and all of us who enjoy attractive movie stars in police uniform.
Not a great start to the day here! Hopefully it gets better. Or else I will get a pizza on the way home tonight (my soothing stay inside treat) and hide from the world with Dog Hazel, that works too. Or just rely on my natural optimistic instinct to find the silver lining and force myself to be happy.
Never actually met Aunt Bernice, she was my great-great-aunt, but every summer solstice my grandmother would mention that it was also Aunt Bernice’s birthday and now that is burned into my brain, the two go together. Pagan earth based sun rituals, and a spinster who worked for a mail order catalog company for 40 years.
It’s like a little miracle, I was looking for a song on youtube and poof!!!! New fanvid channel! Which is mostly Hrithik (enjoy, Filmilibrarian!)
Oh boy, Pritam! I have total faith in my ability to find at least 40 great songs from his playbook in honor of his birthday. In fact, I am going to shoot for 43, giving me a total of 50 reasons.
It’s Memorial Day, which I am celebrating in the traditional American way, a barbecue. Although I am also sort of visiting a cemetery, since my friend’s backyard backs up on one. But that doesn’t mean I can’t take a moment to think about what it really means and why it is a unique holiday. Fair warning, this involves a lot of use of Rang De Basanti.
This post is also because I am looking for a nice light post to put up to cheer myself up because it has now been raining here for 30 hours. It was nice yesterday, when I could huddle in bed and watch the rain, but it’s not the same now that I am at work and have to shiver in my office watching the rain.
I’m back! Spent an incredibly long day doing things, and now I am home and waiting for my delivery dinner and trying to distract myself.
Happy Cinco de Mayo! A Mexican holiday, which inspires me to find every vaguely Hispanic song in the history of Indian film. There are not many. But I was able to find a thematic 5 videos.
May day, in addition to being the international day of labor, is also the international day of “hanging flowers and candy on your neighbor’s doors”. And the Maypole dance and various other obviously pagan spring rituals. But whatever, it works! Spring keeps coming! And to that end, let’s enjoy some pretty spring flower songs.
Mrs. Perfect mentioned that she is struggling with the agony of college decisions. And it is also the end of exam season in India (I still don’t understand this concept, but I will accept that it exists). Time for inspiring “Go and succeed and work hard and have a new challenge!!!!” post!
Thanks to Asmita, we all learned the valuable lesson a few weeks ago that Mercury was in Retrograde, thereby causing all sorts of minor inconveniences and mistakes to all of us here in BlogWorld. And also Alia Bhatt who broke her shoulder. But now, it is out of retrograde! And I don’t know about you, but my life is suddenly locking into place.
Thanks to Amitji, I just learned this is “World Theater Day”. Which seems like as good an excuse as any to do a light songs post. So, let’s look at movie songs that take place within a theater!
I considered “myths”, but that’s not quite right. There are a combination of Persian legends, Punjabi folk tales, and of course the Puranic stories of Ram and Sita, which are all important to know if you watch Hindi film because they influence the way the narratives play out. Luckily, many of them are summarized and represented through simple songs!
It is a truth universally acknowledged that Rani and Abhishek had the better chemistry together than either of them had with any other co-star. So, in honor of Rani’s birthday, let us take a look at that chemistry in fanvid form!
