Have I mentioned I’m a Cubs Fan?

So, slightly slowing on the watching/writing about new movies this week, since all my evenings are devoted to the World Series.  I’m not much of a Cubs fan, more as a kind of family tradition (4th generation! On both sides!) than as a thing I enjoy.  But I do make a point of watching/listening to every game if they make it to post-season.  Which has only happened 4 times in my lifetime, so it’s not a real big commitment.

I wanted to do a songs post themed with baseball, but turns out there are no Hindi songs about Baseball!  Even the Hindi version of High School Musical 2, which I thought was a lock, just removed that whole sequence!  So we have to make do with Gene Kelly, Jules Munshin, and Frank Sinatra in a song based on the Cubbies’ Tinkers to Evers to Chance line-up in the 1900s.

And that High School Musical 2 song, unfortunately in the English not the Hindi version.

And back to Gene and Frank for the classic song.

If there’s some other baseball themed movie song I’m missing, let me know!  Especially if there is an actual Hindi song!  Remember, baseball, NOT cricket.

(and I am NOT posting any of the specific Cubs songs, because it is TOO MUCH RIGHT NOW!)

  1. Johnny Evers, not Evans (Tinker to Evers to Chance):

Baseball’s Sad Lexicon by Franklin Pierce Adams

These are the saddest of possible words:
    “Tinker to Evers to Chance.”
Trio of bear cubs, and fleeter than birds,
    Tinker and Evers and Chance.
    Ruthlessly pricking our gonfalon bubble,
Making a Giant hit into a double –
Words that are heavy with nothing but trouble:
    “Tinker to Evers to Chance.”
