Holi Hai! Let’s Get Regional!

I already re-posted last year’s post, so if you are wondering where “Rang Barse” or “Balam Pichkari” is, look over there.  Now the challenge is, can I put together a new post including all different songs?  Maybe I can, if I “cheat” and look beyond Hindi.

1. 1. I’m going to start with an easy one, a song I know I didn’t include last year because it hadn’t come out yet!

2. This is another new one, but not a new Hindi one, new Marathi!  I haven’t seen the movie or anything, but I do know and love Ritiesh Deshmukh (love him in Bluffmaster!) and Genelia D’Souza (Jaane Tu….Ya Jaane Na, Force, Boys, a bunch of other stuff, she is great in everything).

3. Bhojpuri!  I have never seen a Bhojpuri film, but I know they were like a kitschy popular thing for a while.  Also, I love the normal sized heroine!

4. Punjabi!  I’m not 100% sure this is even a film song, it might just be a popular music song.  But I love it!

5. Also Punjabi, a very different kind of Holi song!  With rap and nightclubs and stuff.  I am confused, but I still like it!

6. Check it out!  A Bengali Holi song, sung by people we know from the Hindi industry!  Ashaji and Kavita Krishnamurthy.

7. As always, the Malayalams have the nice grounded but still beautiful view of the day.  Just some friends on a beach with baggies of color.

8. This song is like the total opposite!  Turns a Holi celebration into an action movie.  I would think it was Telugu, but it’s actually Tamil!

9. And now back to Hindi, from a terrible terrible movie, but the song is by Rahman so I have to include it!
