Well, everyone is making bad decisions this week! And just because their big grown up celebrities doesn’t mean they are too big for me to correct.
Rana and Rakul?
Rakul Preet Singh just denied that she and Rana are dating, which of course means they are dating. And I am DEVESTATED. For no particular reason, I am completely committed to the Rana-Trisha romance. He’s tall! She’s small! He’s old and unmarried! She broke her engagement last minute! I just really want this to happen for them, get married and have happy babies. And Rakul can go off and find someone else.
Alia Finds a Hollywood Agent
There is a rumor of a rumor of a rumor that Alia is shopping for American representation. That’s the first step to any kind of an international career, even a little cameo in a film would require an agent. But Alia, WHY??? It’s just not a good idea at this moment in time. Age 18-28 is when an actress in India can have way more options and better options than an actress in Hollywood, especially Alia who has rapidly climbed to a higher height than any actress in years. Take time out during those prime years to persue a Hollywood career and you risk losing everything you built in India on a crazy gamble for something that will never be as good as what you have back home. It’s what Aish did, and remember how that turned out? Folks were excited at first, and then as she was gone longer and longer, and seemed less and less interested in her Indian career/audience, India turned against her. She came back but that love and support was just gone. Dips saw the writing on the wall and stopped putting her energy towards something that wasn’t happening and kept her Indian career going and dropped the Hollywood stuff. Priyanka did it best of all, started switching to America when she hit 34 and her Indian career was ending and got a second chance overseas. But Alia, WHY??? This young? At such a height of your career? Why throw it away for a small chance at something that won’t be as good even at the best?
Tara Sutaria and Aadar Jain, WHY????
Tara Sutaria isn’t the greatest. Little starlet from Dharma, her first movie she was overshadowed by Ananya Panday, her career is barely started. And yet, she is far FAR too good for Aadar Jain. If it is a bad idea to date a Kapoor man, it is a far worse idea to date a Kapoor man who doesn’t even have the Kapoor name. Just, why Tara? Why??
Some enterprising young Indian scientist needs to develop a vaccine for whatever it is the Kapoor men have that makes women putty in their hands. It’s basically a national health crisis at this point.

I find Alia so interesting as a contrast to her father and sister who are weird and arty. ***straps on psychoanalytic cap*** She’s almost aggressively counteracting that with her commercial ambitions and choices. I think Mahesh has been subtweeting her because he posts things about fame being an illusion. But she’s going to be in the Sadak sequel. So fascinating. She has that baby face and the Karan Johar shine but underneath so much oddness. And I can 100% see her marrying Ranbir, unfortunately.

Her whole family has so many troubles, it feels like a textbook example of the person who would rush into a seemingly “perfect” and “normal” life in response. Which is also how Rishi got Neetu to marry him, she had such a strange childhood and young womanhood as a child star, she just wanted to be married and be a “normal” woman.

I don’t believe the Rakul-Rana thing. It is often when someone issues clarification that the supposed link-up rumour is circulated for the first time and of course the news will have more details on what the clarifier is doing currently,their next film and so on. In this case it’s all about Rakul.
Alia’s case is such a too much too soon. It’s like she is checking off her bucket list and in a race to finish it all off. What’s she going to do with the rest of her life.

Maybe that’s Alia’s plan? We often talk how she is rushing things and doing all those important films one after another , movies, other actresses were waiting years to do. But I’m not worried about her career because she always has Karan, who will wait for her with the best scripts. And being honest people start being fed up with her in every movie, so maybe it’s a good idea?
I don’t care much who Rakul is dating, but I just read she will be in a movie with Arjun Kapoor and I’m happy.

I saw the Arjun report too, and my feeling was just happiness that Arjun is working steadily. Good for him! I like to see a work ethic in a young man.

Oh, while I am thinking of Angie recommendations, have you seen Chekka Chivantha Vaanam yet? It’s got 3 separate chubby heroes with natural facial hair. I make no promises that you will enjoy anything else in the film, but there’s that.

It has disappeared into Drive land. They were shooting on location and everything, than the release date got moved back, and now I’m just not hearing anything about it any more.

I was also thinking is 15 November some kind of holiday in India? I checked upcoming hindi releases and there are 7 ( 8 before Bhangra Paa Le has been cancelled) movies ready to release that day. Sure, some of them will be pushed, but why so many that exact date? Or it’s some kind of “movies nobody cares about” holiday?

I think Bhangra Pe Le even got some twitter love from folks who owe favors, like Karan Johar. So that is a mildly high profile film to be drive’d. Although still lower profile than Saif’s film that he fought for and saved last minute.
So far as I can tell, no November 15 holiday in India. So I guess it is just one of those “this is a good date between two holidays to release films we don’t care about” holidays, like you said.
And I don’t want to watch Section 375 or Asuran! Why don’t people make happy movies? Or why doesn’t someone give me the sexy Akshaye Khanna cut of Section 375 because that’s all I care about?
