Monday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me on Raj Kapoor and Rana Daggubatti’s Birthdays?
Happy Monday! I am not ready to go to work. I finished all my Christmas stuff over the weekend and I feel like that should earn me a day off. Right? Work is dumb!
Continue readingPride Day: Same-Sex Co-Stars With the Best Chemistry Who We Want to Be Secret Couples!
Surely, this will be a long list, won’t it? Any time you are watching a movie going “ooo, the two ‘best friend’ characters really have great chemistry”. Tell us about them!
Continue readingSocial Media Update! Rana is Engaged, Salman Made a Song, and Sid M Looks Good With Messy Hair
Sid M! Who knew! He made a little joke, and his hair looks fabulous, all messy and grown out.
Continue readingNews Round-Up: Rana, Alia, and Tara Sutaria All Break My Heart,
Well, everyone is making bad decisions this week! And just because their big grown up celebrities doesn’t mean they are too big for me to correct.
Continue readingThursday Telugu: Nenu Naa Rakshisi, Where is Your Moral Line?
As I said when I announced this review, I can’t truly recommend this film as one for you to watch. It is odd and poorly put together. But it had some interesting ideas so I want to talk about it for a bit, even if no one watched it. Oh, and you can read the first non-spoiler half if you want an interesting discussion of film craftsmanship (who wouldn’t?).
Continue readingHappy Birthday Allu Arjun! Rudhramadevi, Your Historical Where You Steal the Screen
If you live in America, Rudhramadevi just made it to Netflix, and you should definitely watch it! It’s like Bahubaali, but with a feminist message and really really bad CGI. But I like the message so much, I can look past the CGI.
Continue readingKatching Up on Koffee: BAHUBALI!!!!
I know, this is late, but it’s Christmas Eve, is anyone really waiting for this post to go up?
Continue readingTGIF: All Southern!!!!! Men in Mundus/Lungis
I completely forgot our southerners last week, and I am doing an all-Hindi “Best of 2017” contest, so I really feel like I need to make up for it. And the best way I can is an Entire Post of Southern Gentleman. In their native garb.
News Round-Up: Couple News! Radhika and Dev, Prateik and Sanya, Tiger and Disha, Rana and Elephants
Well, romance is in the air! Or at least couples are in the air. Everyone is pairing up in their own way
Bahubali Fanfic Part 6: A Conversation
I am almost done with the official Bahubali novel, and I have to say, my fanfic matches my feeling for the films much better than the novels. I’m not saying it is better objectively, just that the things I liked from the films (strong characters, moral quandaries, a magical world, romantic love) are what I am playing around with in my fanfic, while the “real” novels are playing around with some whole other thing (it’s like the movies, but with sex! Lots and lots of graphic boring sex! And child killings) (full index of Bahubali posts, including the rest of the fanfic, here)
Bahubali Fanfic Part 5: A Kiss!
Welcome back to my fanfic! I am having way more fun writing this than my “real” posts, the bread and butter ones that keep my viewership up. Oh well, I might as well treat myself, what does it hurt? (my loyal readers who want analysis! that’s who. Sorry! I will try to do better) (full index of Bahubali posts here)
Trailers! Southern Trailers! I May Have To Spend $$$$$ and See These in Theaters
I don’t have a super lot to say about these trailers, but I am really hoping that you do! Because I need to learn more about these movies and decide if it is worth it to go see them in theaters. Because, you know, Tamil/Telugu movie tickets are big bucks!
Bonus Silly Speculative Post: A Romance For Anushka 2!
Considering that Anushka 2 (the daughter Prabhas 1 and Anushka 1 would have had if Prabhas 1 had lived) isn’t even part of the “real” canon, I have become remarkably attached to my concept of her. So I can’t resist giving her a little spin-off movie all her own. And this works as a sequel to either of my previous Fanfics, the first one or the second one. Also, I really really got into this one, so it is less a single movie and more a mini-series/novel. There will be multiple installments. It will help wean us all away as now that the Bahubali 2 scene by scenes are over.
Bahubali 2 Scene By Scene Part 23: Anuskha! MOVE YOURSELF!!! DO SOMETHING!
Welcome to part 2 of the big final battle section! The part where stuff actually happens and I don’t just blather on and on about the set up for stuff happening! If you want to read the blather part, it is here. And you can go back in time from there to find the earlier posts.
Bahubali 2 Scene By Scene Part 19: Oh Kattappa!
Happy second to last “sad part”. Thank goodness I got to take a break in the middle for our weekly TGIF post. Otherwise this would have been much too hard to get through. (Last part of the scene by scene is here, you can crawl back through the archives from there). I’m going to try to put up the final “sad part” later this evening, and then you can all talk about it all weekend.
Bahubali 2 Detailed Summary (SPOILERS): Part 5, The Love Triangle Begins!
Welcome to the end of our first all Bahubali week! But not our last, I am only about an hour into the film, so these posts will be continuing for a while. But I hope to manage to watch something else over the weekend, so I can give us a little bit of variety! Even the most delicious meal can pale, if it is all you eat. (detailed summary part 1 here, part 2 here, part 3 here, part 4 here, and fanfic scenes I want to add here)
The Ghazi Attack Review (NO SPOILERS): A Movie My Grandfather Would Love
This is a classic submarine movie. A very specific genre, which also happens to be my grandfather’s favorite. I cannot WAIT for this film to be available on Netflix so I can send it to him! If only there had been even more underwater shenanigans and videos of little toy boats moving in bathtubs, and slightly less patriotic stupidity.
Bahubaali Poster!!!
That’s all I have to say really, just BAHUBAALI POSTER!!!! Let us all celebrate! Also, isn’t it handy that both Prabhas and Rana Duggabati have birthdays at the perfect time to promote it? Although probably if they didn’t, the filmmakers would have found another occasion around now to release it.
Rudhramadevi: SO AWESOME! Terrible CGI, But Great Message!!!
If you live in America, Rudhramadevi just made it to Netflix, and you should definitely watch it! It’s like Bahubaali, but with a feminist message and really really bad CGI. But I like the message so much, I can look past the CGI.
