Friday Watchalong! Do Dooni Chaar Right Here at 3pm Chicago Time!

This should be a fun one! A nice light comedy about a middle aged couple trying to buy a car.

Do Dooni Char! Rishi and Neetu’s last great co-starring performance (we aren’t counting Besharam, obviously). I haven’t seen it myself, but I’ve heard really really good things, and I’m excited! Oh, and it’s available basically everywhere, Netflix to youtube.

  2. This is such an important look at middle class life – similar to how American lower middle class lives now. We are more alike than we think as cultures. Except Americans don’t generally want to work hard. Discuss!

    • I don’t know about Americans, but in South America the situation is similar. Ppl have to work two jobs and sometimes it’s not enough…most of the time is barely enough to live each month…no chance to get sick 😦

    • I suspect a theme that is going to come up more and more is education versus economics, he’s a teacher, clearly has a higher degree, but is hoping for his kids to get a degree in a different field and have an easier life. America is heading that way, but I think not so extreme yet?

  3. I was thinking how much meaning and weight family has…like extended family. All this trouble, looking for a car because the sister wanted them to come by car?

    • I love her lack of narcissm. In real life, she hardly appears without a blow out and perfect make-up and often sunglasses to hide her eyes. In this movie, she is just letting us see her face as it is and its’s wonderful.

    • Sort of…that was kind of passive aggressive of him to say he wanted to recommend they get a car since they usually arrive sweaty
