Songs to Make You Feel Warm and Cozy

In Chicago right now it is just cold enough to be chilly inside (even with long pants and shirt), but not chilly enough that the landlord legally has to turn on the radiators. Or in other words, “that time of year when you check the city codes to find out if your landlord legally has to turn on the heat yet and are disappointed to learn he doesn’t”. Anyway, instead of putting on a sweater, or having hot tea, or moving away from the windows, I am going to write this post. Because those other things are just too much work.

What songs make you feel like you are sitting in front of a roaring fire, sipping cocoa?

There’s “Gerua”, always guaranteed to make you feel warmer than Shahrukh and Kajol are

“Uff”, happiness warming up the whole place!

“Banke Tera Jogi” Something about it, it’s inside, it’s at a party, everyone’s smiling, just feels warm and cozy.

This is probably a sign of terrible taste in me, but I really love “Home” from Jacobinte Swarigyam.

I know for sure that this is a sign of terrible taste, but I can’t help feeling safe and home when I hear “I Just Wanna Spend My Life With You” from Neal n’ Nikki.

Moving on to something a bit classy, “Jab Tak Hain Jaan”

And totally classy, “Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh”

What are your warm and cozy songs? And are any of mine also warm and cozy for you?

  1. ‘ELKDTAL title song’ is my everything!! Always gives the warm fuzzies when I need them. The whole soundtrack basically.

‘Bhar Do Jholi Meri’ is the song that made me absolutely fall in love with Qawwali songs. It’s so calming and so energetic at the same time.

A non-Indian example and a QUEEN acoustic cover at that, but with the video of Peter and Bruno just doing behind the scenes stuff as they recorded the album ‘Acoustic Queen’ is so lovely and heartwarming. The song is also so fitting I can’t imagine one without the other. I love these two so much!!

    • Qawwali songs are excellent cozy choices! Soothing and meditative and you just sort of lose yourself.

  2. All right, I’m gonna go Bengali on this one because that is what makes me warm and cozy:

Uttam and Suchitra/Hemanta and Geeta singing about their little nest under the big sky is super cozy. And it’s warm because you can see the banyan and palm trees.

  3. I have a long list of cozy English songs, but I’ll stick with Indian languages for the sake of the blog.

“Barfi” – cozy in the sense of childhood

“Bolna” – my favorite Bollywood cuddling song!

“Buttabomma” – spring is still chilly sometimes

“Chaav Laaga” – bus rides can be cozy!

    “Duniyaa” – I don’t have a reason I just love this song

“Halka Halka” – why did they cut this!!

“Hawayein” – I know this whole soundtrack is very summery, but this just makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside

“Ishq Bulaava” – also a favorite. I wanna dance with someone to this song

    “Lae Dooba”–yoiA

“Mast Magan” – sunny but also peaceful

“Naad Khula” – Malaal has a fabulous soundtrack and I wish it had been promoted more

Also there’s a slowed down version of Tujh Mein Rab Dikta Hai that’s haunting and beautiful
