Saturday WachAlong: Chak De India! 7:30am Chicago Time!

Happy Saturday! I got my coffee, I got my whipped cream on top, I got my dark chocolate mix added into the coffee, and I’ve got my bacon jerky. Let’s do this!!!

Chak De! It’s on Amazon, and also einthusan, and also your DVD shelf probably. Oh and remember, once we finish watching it we will need to give opinions on which team member is most attractive in a ladies-who-like-ladies kind of way. So head back to This Post for that!!!

I’ll put up a “And PLAY” comment at 7:30am and we will go straight along commenting from then on.

  1. And Shahrukh did the Namaz to say goodnight! You know this is the first movie he ever played Muslim? I love it, it feels like he isn’t “playing” Muslim, but like he is just being himself and in all the other movies he was playing Hindu.

  2. I really like the balance in the film between the girls resenting the really hard practices, but being even more unhappy when they are benched. They just want to PLAY.

    • There are no other worthy male characters in this movie besides Shah Rukh and he is too good at Not Wanting to Have Sex with Anyone. It has to be gay.

  3. Quick, which is worst, Vidya’s “come home it’s too hard standing up to my Dad” husband, or this “stop playing your little stick game” fiance?

  4. “that’s not a career, it’s just a stupid game”. And I love his “Preety…” in response to her insulting Cricket. It’s CRICKET.

  5. It is so hard for me to think that Cricket is superior to anything. I struggle so hard to take it seriously. A sign of my blatant Americanism.

  6. I like how he yells at them hard, but without getting personal, there’s no “you are a bad player and lazy and weak like that”. And he doesn’t even raise his voice, he just makes it sharp.

      • Bindiya is so horrible, but on the other hand, I could seem them having amazing sexy fights after marriage when she is super rude to a waiter or something.

        • She’s a good example of what happens when someone is never corrected in their life, or faces consequences for actions. She’d become a really good partner, I think. Saved by the love of a good man, that sort of thing. But yeah, their fights would still be epic, as would the make up sex. She’d have to get over the racism though.

  7. Notice that thanks to him pushing them, they are already supporting each other and helping each other get patched up in the locker room? He totally knows what he is doing!!!!

    • I am so so on this. I appreciate that he wants them to have a common enemy. I do wish he had not pushed a girl so hard that she fainted and is in the infirmary for two days.

  8. Oh oh! Just saw something else! Bindiya has been wearing her fancy “Railways” gear in previous scenes, but now she is in a grubby dirty India jersey. Oh yeah, SRK knows what he’s doing.

  9. I think this part and at the beginning when he goes for the interview are my favorite parts for his character. Like him as the underdog with plans no one sees yet.

    • Haha, I was just coming to say I like the veggie cutlet sandwiches at Indian McDonalds. And the fries were surprisingly good without the beef fat. But yeah, I do love a quarter pounder once in a while.
