Happy Sunday! I already walked the dog, took the bus to the house, bought coffee on the way, walked over, saw my friends’ new couch and got my hairbrush from where I stashed it, took the bus back, walked the dog again, and now I am going to watch a movie with you lovely people. The random extra day of homelessness is just going to FLY by!
Raabta! I love it, and if you don’t, you are wrong.
It’s on Prime and various other places. At 1pm Chicago time, I will put up an “and PLAY” comment and we will go from there, all together. Yaaaay!

They have a FANTASTIC musical theatre scene there!! Once things are back to a normal…

Ooh thanks!

Yea, some if not most of the musicals they have performed are on YT with subtitles. My own favourite is their bleak and gothic take on an otherwise bubblegum romantic French musical ‘Romeo et Juliette’ named ‘Romeo es Julia’. It has made me cry so many times, and the acting is top notch!

Thanks! I will have to check it out!

I should add that it is a pro shot, not a bootleg. European musicals have some looser or other rules so many end up on YT with subtitles for all the international fans (like me) who compare productions from different countries.

This whole section is so good. For once I buy the “love at first sight” trope. They are just so cute and flirty and happy!

Budapest! Landmarks! I have been there, and I recognize the landmarks but have no idea what they are called. They aren’t named for their color, that’s the problem. Although that might be the “Golden Bridge”?

And the most famous building is the Parliament building. I think Freddy Mercury wanted to buy it once, as a joke, but of course, couldn’t.

Another fun thing, in a different movie the challenge of getting rid of the extra dude would be the whole first half. In this one, they act like sane independent people and just dump him because she wants to dump him.

Agreed. Also, this scene could have easily been obnoxious and annoying but somehow in this movie it’s cute and understandable.

Considering how bad things are regarding LGBTQ rights in Hungary right now the small scene with the gay man is so nice to see.

Okay, this is the scene that makes no sense. Why even have it?

Because there are a lot of Romani people in Hungary and the Roma are *magical* (insert me rolling my eyes). Yea, as much as I love this movie, this scene just gives me “Gypsy Fortune Teller” stereotype vibes that should have died a LONG time ago.
