Friday WatchAlong: Mohabbattein! 3pm Chicago Time! The Movie I Can’t Spell!

Have you noticed I can’t seem to decide on a spelling for this dang movie? To many vowels! to many t’s and b’s! I just don’t know. But you know the movie I am talking about, right?

Mohabbatein! It’s on Prime and youtube and all kinds of places. It is very long and fairly boring in places, but has great songs and Shahrukh and sweaters on sweaters and sweaters.

At 3pm Chicago time, I will put up an “And PLAY” comment and we will go from there. Yaaaaaaaaaaaay!

  1. I think Shamita is supposed to be “dowdy” or something? Because she is reading with glasses? But the silk mini-top is confusing us.

  2. This movie is perfect for fall. So many sweaters and the motif of the leaves just adds to it. Also, just school stuff in general. But yeah, would rather watch this as a group snarking than alone.

    • TBH, I feel like my mother would enjoy living in the world of this movie. If nothing, they clearly have a reliable supply of dolman-sleeved tops, which she is always complaining about the difficulty of finding.

  3. It is always very cute to me when people mime “grabbing” fire off of the puja thali. We have a similar thing in Karaism to “grab” and spread around fire from candles on the evening before a holiday.

  4. These are pretty complex move combos! Nothing that requires a ton of subtle skill, not Hrithik level. But they had to put in some work to get it all together and on beat and stuff!

  5. Glad to hear that Toni Basil’s “Mickey” is not unknown in India. My mother has a compulsion where she can’t see Rishi walk into a movie for the first time without chanting “Hey, Rishi, you’re so fine,” etc.
