Have you noticed I can’t seem to decide on a spelling for this dang movie? To many vowels! to many t’s and b’s! I just don’t know. But you know the movie I am talking about, right?
Mohabbatein! It’s on Prime and youtube and all kinds of places. It is very long and fairly boring in places, but has great songs and Shahrukh and sweaters on sweaters and sweaters.
At 3pm Chicago time, I will put up an “And PLAY” comment and we will go from there. Yaaaaaaaaaaaay!
Preemptively getting around accusations that the choreography looks like an aerobics class, I see. . .

I think Adi’s word for this movie was “relax” because it is the perfect meditation movie, where brainpower is rarely used

Does straight-haired boy torment anybody else at this hospital except that one poor dumpy guy? (And the girlfriend, obviously.)

I think Shamita is supposed to be “dowdy” or something? Because she is reading with glasses? But the silk mini-top is confusing us.

The costume design in the early 90s-2000s movies really runs the gambit from GREAT! to the perplexing and confusing.

Now THERE’S a realistic college-boy behavior: hopping up to try and slap the hanging lights in the middle of the hall.

SRK owns the pastel look, just like the women did in the early 2000s

I have a soft spot for Archana always, and honestly find her very beautiful even though films don’t usually “think” of her that way.

Her boyfriend is so horrible, it makes me think less of her for dating him.

Probably some high school romance they both don’t realise they have outgrown, like some “cool guy and pretty girl so let’s date” when she deserves so much better. That’s my theory.

She does say “Okay, one more time” she’ll forgive him, so it seems like she’s at least losing patience.

Wait, now that I’m seeing them together, it might actually have been wavy-hair boy? Still not telling them apart reliably despite you guys’ tips and tricks.

See how SRK has his arms folded? It’s because he’s cold. Because he doesn’t have a sweater on top of his sweater.

This movie is perfect for fall. So many sweaters and the motif of the leaves just adds to it. Also, just school stuff in general. But yeah, would rather watch this as a group snarking than alone.

TBH, I feel like my mother would enjoy living in the world of this movie. If nothing, they clearly have a reliable supply of dolman-sleeved tops, which she is always complaining about the difficulty of finding.

Ooooo, do not like the sweater tail hanging down SRK’s front.

So far, this random train station dude who has only shown up twice is nonetheless one of the most sensible, stable-seeming characters.

It is always very cute to me when people mime “grabbing” fire off of the puja thali. We have a similar thing in Karaism to “grab” and spread around fire from candles on the evening before a holiday.

These are pretty complex move combos! Nothing that requires a ton of subtle skill, not Hrithik level. But they had to put in some work to get it all together and on beat and stuff!

This and the song which turns into SRK drum solo must have been AGONY to choreograph to the beat with so many people

Glad to hear that Toni Basil’s “Mickey” is not unknown in India. My mother has a compulsion where she can’t see Rishi walk into a movie for the first time without chanting “Hey, Rishi, you’re so fine,” etc.
