Happy Monday! I have to take my car in to be repaired! I am trying to think of that as a reason for a nice walk through the neighborhood and nothing else!
Here is where you get to ask me anything you want from “is KKHH or K3G better?” to “what is wrong with your car?” Just keep swinging back here all week as you think of questions!
And now, a question for you! For Shahrukh Month, obviously. Who had better clothes, College Rahul:

Or Adult Rahul:

Call me crazy, but I am going with COLLEGE!!!! They may have been ridiculous sweaters, but at least they were functional and reasonable. Versus the super oversized jackets and weird ties that just made no sense.
I came down with a miserable cold over the weekend, so I’m a bit foggy and thinking of random things. So, my question is about Einthusan. The website is not a secret. It is illegal. Then, how is it allowed to continue running? Other pirated websites like Tamil Rockers have to constantly change their URL and are taken down. Others are just super shady and will likely give your computer a virus. And others just have really bad print. But none of these things seem to apply to Einthusan. Why is that?

Also, college Rahul over adult Rahul with his COOL necklace and branded sweatshirts?!?! NOPE NOPE NOPE! Adult Rahul all the way for me. The jackets are oversized and it’s all matchy matchy but somehow it works for me.

Ties the same color as shirts the same color as jackets? NO!

I don’t know either! Not for real-real. But I have 3 guesses:
1. Pretty sure Einthusan is based in Canada, so harder to hit
2. They don’t pirate movies in theaters, it’s only once it is already on DVD that it hits them
3. They are pretty clearly pulling things on request. I think as soon as someone complains, they pull it
But whatever the magic is, I don’t want it to go away!

I don’t want it to go away either but it still baffles me. I didn’t know that they were located in Canada and that because they are in Canada, they might be better protected. Interesting.

I don’t know-know that they are in Canada, but it seems like half the time when I stream stuff, it says “streaming for Toronto”. So maybe they are!

I have a question! Do you have any types of story that are just kryptonite for you, as in make it really hard for you to like a show or movie? I was thinking about this with Salaam-e-Ishq, but also picking new series to watch. I have a few: marital infidelity, especially if there are kids in the picture, just grosses me out and I end up hating everybody. Serial killers, I think they’re not an interesting kind of evil and they tend to bring out the worst in writers. Since I became a parent, I have a hard time with stories about children who die or are put in serious peril or harm – especially if it feels at all like the child character is there for the purpose of emotional manipulation of the audience. And zombies, don’t like zombies, worst kind of monster in my book (this one is getting in the way of some fun sounding Korean action, but just nope).
I sometimes will bring myself to watch a story in one of these categories, and very occasionally it can be so good that I like it in spite of myself, but mostly it confirms that no, these are not my thing.
To answer your question, I’m voting for adult Rahul with his see-through button-down shirts.

Oh man! Yes! Too high stakes get me for one thing. Like, the War risk of “maybe they will shoot down a satellite” is about as much as I can handle. When it turns into some kind of “if we don’t stop the bad guys, the world will blow up!” I just get too spooked to be able to relax and enjoy the silly.
And just plain Real World Tragedy gets to me, I’m never gonna watch Neerja again and have avoided all the other similar films. On the other hand, (as you know from reading my blog) Bad History presented as Good History just INFURIATES me!!!!! Any time a movie has that tone of “I am big and wise and will teach you things” it makes my skin itch. Probably related to how I instinctively dislike and distrust all ministers. Who are you to say you are smarter than me, stupid movie!
Also stupid, see through button down shirts

I don’t know, I feel like the tiny shirts Harry wears are at most one and a half steps removed from the see through button-down in the charades/gazebo scenes in KKHH! 😄

Adult Rahul’s clothes are so boring! I choose college Rahul, mostly because of this look:
P.S I just found your Halloween card in my mailbox. What a nice surprise! Thank you 🙂

So I thought I had made peace with Indian Police. The glorification of rough and tumble, the suspects with no rights what so ever. Similar to Filmikhudi I have a cold, that won’t leave. (Getting a PCR test tomorrow, gotta wait in rural locals) And being unable to do much else I decided I needed to watch some more non-Hindi films that don’t have Allu Arjun in them and I looked up the most popular Telugu films in the last year on Einthusan, and so started watching Krack. I was thinking oh, this is fun, maybe I should watch this with my boys until they graphically showed the police SHOVING a BROOMSTICK up a suspects butt! Reviews said it was a family entertainer!?!
Are people in India seriously okay with their kids seeing that? I would think that by now I wouldn’t have culture shock. But I have culture shock. Is broom pole rape just big joke? Do I finish the movie, or do I swear off all Telugu family films from now on (unless they have Allu Arjun of course)?

My personal judgement is that “funny action” films have a very fine line. That’s part of the reason I am always fond of Rohit Shetty. His films aren’t always high quality or consistent or logical, but he somehow manages to do action films that don’t have that nihilistic sociopath kind of humor. Every time I watch something Hindi or anything else that is branded as an “action entertainer” I brace myself for BAD. I think you are very wise to watch this stuff before your kids do!

The last Nani movie was said to be a family movie and there were 6 brutal murders ( committed with rocks, machete and stuff like that, a lot of blood involved) in the first 10 minutes! The only non murder scene had the villain forcing a poor widow to have sex ( sex wasn’t shown of course but it was easy to understand)

I should note that later that day I let the kids watch part of Don with me. Lots of killing, death by golfball is gruesome. So it isn’t like I don’t do gruesome, but in all honesty death by golfball isn’t really believable, the killing is fantasy.
I guess what I object to is rape.
