Happy Saturday! Late! The sun is setting and I still haven’t put up my small talk post. It’s a weird day.
I am WEIRD today, and I was weird yesterday, and I will continue being weird for a while. Grandpa just entered hospice and is actively dying as of about a week and a half ago. I’m not sad about it, because he’s not sad about it, and he’s really old, and all of that. But I am having a weird physical response. Really hard to stay awake, really hard to focus, all of that. So, heads up about that!!! It is having an effect on the blog because I keep falling asleep while writing blog posts, and forgetting what I was going to say in posts, and stuff.
Okay, things to talk about!
Halloween tomorrow! VERY IMPORTANT! What are you going as and what are your kids/dogs going as?
I am going to wear a nice warm wool witches hat I just bought, and a cheap light up pumpkin necklace. And probably a coat and long underwear, gonna be chilly tomorrow and I want to sit outside and see ALL the children that I can see for hours and hours and hours.
Oh, and Albie dog will be wearing his nice new Halloween sweater (because cold)

Second question, should I see Sooryanvanshi in theaters this week? I haven’t even watched a trailer since the first teaser. Is it good Rohit Shetty (Chennai Express, Singham) or bad Rohit Shetty (Bol Bachchan, Golmaals)?
Sorry to hear about your Grandpa…
I saw the new show – Call My Agent, Bollywood on Netflix…and I really want someone else to see it so we can rant about it together!!
The original french show was smart, witty, and sharp. But they decided to remake it like an Aneez Bazmi comedy…shrill and loud…it’s awful!! Cheesy dialogues, people yelling, loud background score…oh and there are even sleazy lesbian sex scenes shot in Ram Gopal Verma style… it’s soo bad!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, I don’t have to watch it! I only watch GOOD stuff š I will leave it to someone else to share with you.

I’m so sorry to hear about your grandfather, Margaret. Please let us know if there is anything we can do.
I am visiting my parents tomorrow after a really, really long time, so my costume is the Prodigal Daughter. I assume that means conservative clothing and a slightly blank expression, but I’ll decide on the fly.

HA! I am seeing my parents today too, but I see them at least once a week so there is less I need to do prepare. It’s hopeless, they already know who I really am. I did get the vacuum out of the closet at least? I didn’t actually vacuum, but I got it out, which feels like a good step.

Sorry to hear about your granddad. That must be hard.
I’m just dressing properly goth, which is more of a statement these days than otherwise.
My only Bollywood news is I saw a picture of Govinda driving with his tits basically out and that really cheered me up for some reason.

Are you dressing properly goth and sitting at home being goth-y, or are you going to a party and being social and un-gothy?

TY! Everyone over 40 got it! But the best response was from my sonās best friend (age 9) who said āthatās pretty good for a homemade costumeā once I explained who Clippy was. He would have been content to think that I created my own anthropomorphized paper clip, though.

That’s cute. He’s right, just as a paperclip costume it’s already good.

Oh Margaret! I donāt think youāre being weird at all. Grief can manifest very physically. I developed a pain in my left shoulder when our first try for a baby resulted in a miscarriage within month two. And yes, I do think you are grieving, even if there is no āreasonā to. Itās a goodbye you didnāt ask for.
Big Boy just refused to even try on his garden gnome costume, so I donāt get to go out as John Constantine either. Would have been great to know if anyone around here recognized that one. Anyways, both costumes were just cheaply thrown together, so itās no big loss.

Did you dress up the baby at least? Because she is so tiny, surely you can do anything you want with her?

11yo is going as “low budget Superman”. We got him some too small blue sweatpants and a long sleeved blue shirt. He made a hand-drawn logo he’s pinned on the front, and he has some red underwear briefs he’s wearing on top of the pants, and a little kid Superman cape we’ve had in the dress-up bin forever. It’s pretty hysterical, all his idea. The 8yo decided to be Hawkeye, which is a little harder to pull off recognizably without a store bought costume, but we did our best with a ladies black crop top we found on ultra clearance, layered over a couple of other shirts and made into something resembling soft armor with abundant black tape. We’d given away the bow and arrow set so we had to improvise that too out of scraps from the basement. Not my best effort ever but passable. Glad to be out trick or treating and seeing hordes of kids in costume running around the neighborhood again.
So sorry about grandpa, I know he’s an important person in your world.

Iām so sorry to hear about your grandpa, Margaret. I sent you Theoās Halloween photos to cheer you up.
My sister and husband will be Chicago next weekend for a small wedding, which I am banned from because blah blah, I canāt fly at 37 weeks š. If I was there, we could have watched Sooryavanshi together. Iām debating watching it by myself in the theaters. I have enjoyed the Singham/Simmba movies and generally enjoy Rohit Shettyās films. I am just worried about the Akshay factor. I have such little tolerance for his jingoism that I am afraid even a little bit of it will turn me off. But then there is the Katrina factor and I adore her so maybe thatāll make up for it. Plus, I am really excited to see Akshay, Ranveer, and Ajay fight bad guys together.

Hey there, sorry to hear about your Grandpa, it’s a massive disturbance in the force, even if natural and timely, no wonder you’re feeling it. I’ve been having a similar reaction to the death of mum-in-law. Maybe because I’m not directly involved in running around arranging stuff trying to hold my shit together, this one has hit me with tiredness, tendency to nap and foggy ole headbone… look after yourself and young Albie, looking very fetching in his Hallows gear.

Thank you! I told my friend that grief makes me sleep all the time, and she had never heard of such a thing.
