Friday WatchAlong: Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, 3pm Chicago Time!!!!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaay! Friday WatchAlong! I did work all morning, ran an errand, then came home and had a nap, and now I am all settled in for this movie! And I will NOT fall asleep (as I tend to do when we have Friday afternoon watchalongs).

Chori Chori Chupke Chupke

It’s available all over the place for rent, and it is well worth the rental. It has one of my all time favorite songs, “No. 1 Punjabi!”

At 3pm Chicago time, I will put up an “And PLAY” comment on this post and we will all watch along together from there. I’m excited!

    • Wiki says that it is Alka Yagnik in both of them. I always think Alka is more successful at singing slightly “traditional” melodies like this, more so than pop-influenced stuff like Preity’s first song.

  1. I’m sure most of you know this. But in Indian culture, elders are not supposed to touch younger people’s feet. And because Preity is a prostitute she feels she is especially “dirty” so someone elder of “class” should really not be touching her feet. So having an elder women of “higher class” massage her feet is a big deal for Preity.

  2. Also, Salman and Rani’s excuse for staying in Switzerland was that Rani isn’t allowed to travel. But in the 8th month of pregnancy both can travel to India?!?!??!! No airline would allow you on the flight one month before you are due!!!!

  3. Again, if this doctor can deliver a baby, he certain can impregnate Preity without Salman’s penis!!! He could also help them find a real surrogate!!!

  4. Well, that was lovely as always! And now I have to walk the dog and eat dinner real quick before doing another virtual watchalong. Princess Switch 3!

  5. Cheers to Preity being a mom through surrogacy in real life!!! She does get her happy ending!

Thank you everyone for a wonderful watchalong. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

  6. Thank you for this! I love seeing movies I have never watched before. It’s such a bittersweet ending that makes you wonder if Salman loved her *a bit more* than was appropriate for the situation. Sorry, his freeze-frame eyes just scream love loudly,

    • And there is that faint echo of “chori chori chupke chupke” over it, like maybe he has a tiny secret.

      • The title song, too. With even the hand gesture from a choreography that was only ever in her head before. I can acknowledge when a film is trying to show something different from what I’m seeing.

  7. Thank you for the watch – a – long! childcare and movies don’t really go together, I missed quite a bit, and then I lost my second computer so I couldn’t comment. But I enjoyed the movie, even if I was Rani hating quite a bit at the end. Have a good weekend!
