I think I chose to talk mostly about Preity’s character in this review, which is interesting enough of a conversation to have. There is just so much in this film!

Shahrukh Birthday Countdown, Veer-Zaara! I Don’t Love It!
Three review day! I’ve totally lost track of how many movies/days I have left, but I feel like I need to increase my rate of review.
Continue readingShahrukh Birthday Countdown, Kal Ho Na Ho! The First REAL Review!
I was looking for a review to repost and discovered I had done two mini-reviews, one about this film as showing a matriarchy, the other about it as showing an interesting idea of different kinds of love. But no actual regular review! So, time to write that. (previous posts on Matriarchy and on love triangles)
Continue readingShahrukh Birthday Month Re-Review, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna!
I just reread my original review, and it was quite good, but there are so many other interesting points to discuss that I didn’t even touch upon! I’m excited!
Continue readingHair Discussion Post: Bangs, Are They Ever a Good Idea?
I like how we have really been tackling the tough topics today. Never let it be said that DCIB shrinks from controversy!
Continue readingAdorable Instagram Couples: Dipveer, Jaya-Amitabh, and Others
Instagram! Land of happiness! So nice it just look at pretty pictures of pretty people and not have a million trolls. I will enjoy it while it lasts.
Continue readingInstagram Update: Hrithik Plays Piano, Madhuri Plays with Her Son, Preity’s Dog Plays with Her
I’m finally getting around to the non-Shahrukh “I For India” performances. No one is what I would call “good”, but they are trying, and that’s what matters. Sort of. Also, here’s Preity to cheer us up.
Continue readingHappy Things From Social Media! Karan’s Kids, Hrithik’s Dog, Preity Zinta’s Workout
Did you know Karan is posting videos of the twins? I didn’t! And I have come to share that joy with you.
Continue readingDiscussion Post: Who Do You Have A Girl Crush On?
Do we all understand the concept of “girl crush”? Someone you aren’t sexually attracted to, but you think they are just really REALLY cool and you want to hang out with them and eat ice cream and be best friends.
Continue readingHindi Film 101: Preity Zinta, “the Only Man in Bollywood”
If you have been following Indian film for the past 20 years or so, that headline will make total sense to you. If you have not, then I will explain below. It’s FASCINATING.
Continue readingSaturday Small Talk: Chat Away While I Do Household Stuff
Happy Saturday! After having my wonderful DCIB adventure last weekend, this weekend I am having a wonderful “take my rugs in to be cleaned and buy groceries” adventures.
Continue readingHappy Birthday Preity! Getting it in Just Under the Wire!
This is a repost, not an original, but I think I skipped it last year so maybe it will read fresh to you! Anyway, I love Preity, let’s celebrate her!
Continue readingSunday ReRun: Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Grand Finale of Rani Week!
I originally wrote this post for Preity’s birthday, and I still think it is a great unusual role for her, but Rani’s role and performance is pretty good too!
Continue readingTo Celebrate the End of Shahrukh Month, Shahrukh Movies Re-Written Without Shahrukh (Yes, a romance for Rani and Kajol in KKHH)
Oh boy, a totally indulgent post! I love writing fanfic, and I am having a lazy happy evening with my dog. Don’t care if none of you read this (well, I care a little bit. It makes me really happy when you comment on my fanfic, especially with your own ideas), this will just be happy for ME.
Continue readingNews Round-Up: Casting Rumors of Future Films! 2000s Are Back, Suniel, Preity, and Maddy Are All Rumored
Everyone decided to start the work week by giving bollywoodhungama stories that may or may not be true depending on what the future holds. I should join in! I can tell bollywoodhungama that I am currently planning to make a flash mob youtube video that will go viral. Will I? Doesn’t matter! The story is that, as of this moment, I am PLANNING to do so.
Continue readingNRI Films Week: Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, One of the Happiest and Most Realistic NRI Films
Happy anti-Independence Day week! As in, movies about folks happily living not in India without all kinds of patriotic angst.
Continue readingHrithik Week: Lakshya, One of Hrithik’s 4 Great Performances (Lakshya, Luck By Chance, Jodha-Akbar, Agneepath)
This is a movie that is a bit hard to find, and isn’t discussed much, but every time I watch it I am impressed by how unusual and high quality it is, and how unusual and high quality Hrithik’s performance is.
Continue readingFriday Classics: Veer-Zaara, Love is a Sin That Deserves to Be Punished
This movie is so frustrating! So much good, and so much ANGRY MAKING. Not as bad as Jab Tak Hain Jaan, but not as good as it could/should be. Ugh, Yashji! Why you gotta disappoint me this way?
Continue readingNews Round-Up: Weddings, Storage Rooms, Scuzzy Exes, and Controversial Titles All Burn Down
Still no really juicy news items, at least not my definition of juicy (stuff related to studio investment structures), but some stuff that is at least worth repeating.
Continue readingHappy Jaya Day! Kal Ho Na Ho, Her Grand Return to Form as a Matriarch
I really really like this movie, for many reasons, but it wouldn’t be nearly as good as it is without Jaya Bachchan.
Continue readingLove Discussion Post, KHNH Based
Kal Ho Na Ho has come up remarkably often in the comments as we talk about our ideal version of a love story. So I want to use it as kind of a jumping off point for a greater discussion.
Continue readingSunday ReRun Jaan-E-Mann: My Favorite Movie That No One Else Likes
This is I think the first serious review I wrote. Back when no one was reading me. So I am reposting it so you can enjoy it now. And also because it’s December and no one much is reading, so I might as well put up a review that I’ve already posted twice.
Friday Classics: Lakshya, a Coming of Age War Story
I always forget how good this movie is, and then I watch it again and it is just REALLY REALLY good. And sometimes I feel like I am the only person who realizes that, it’s not talked about nearly as much as you would expect for a Farhan Akhtar/Hrithik Roshan/Amitabh Bachchan/Boman Irani/Amrish Puri/Om Puri/Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy/Javed Akhtar/Preity Zinta movie.
Female Bonding Songs, Inspired by “Veere” from Veere Di Wedding
This post is also because I am looking for a nice light post to put up to cheer myself up because it has now been raining here for 30 hours. It was nice yesterday, when I could huddle in bed and watch the rain, but it’s not the same now that I am at work and have to shiver in my office watching the rain.
TGIF: Wedding Outfits!!!! Pick Your Favorites
Yaaaay! A super fun one inspired by Sonam’s Party of the Century wedding earlier this week. Wedding dresses! Combining both the full formal wedding sari, and the fun reception outfits, so we get two sets of dresses to gaze at.
