Happy Saturday! And Happy Jackie Birthday Week! I have been talked into doing an ACTUAL Jackie movie, not just one of his modern ones where he has a little father role and nothing else.
Dushmani! I know nothing about it! Except that it is Jackie and Sunny and from 1995. So I am expecting lots of fake blood, very little dancing, and some questionable sexual politics. WOOT! Oh, and for Jackie to show too much skin, because it’s what he does.

At 8am Chicago time, I will put up a comment on this post “And PLAY” and then we can all comment along together from there.
The lady on the bus with the particularly giant embroidered red dress–I have a mashriqi-style kaftan that looks almost exactly like it, LOL.

It really does make such a touching visual contrast to have him absorbed into this super traditional-looking family while wearing jeans and sneakers.

I am getting sleepy. Oh man, I may not last the whole movie. Or I may take a nap and come back to realize that I have missed nothing.

Are you nuts? First rule of parenting… do not wake a sleeping baby. Well wake him up to eat and stuff but if not, no waking the baby up!

The sucky of it is that he’s legit trying to keep Sunny out of the same kind of pain/fallout that he and Deepti had, just. . . not in an effective way.

I do like that Deepti is the one who finally pointed out Anupam’s screwed-up-ness to him and now Manisha does the same at Jackie. Symmetry!

Wait, is there gonna be a happy ending? Is Jackie, for once, going to survive to the end of a movie and get everything he wants?

There’s still half an hour for things to go horribly wrong. My money’s on things resolving okay for Sunny-Manisha, but not for Deepti-Jackie.

I am so stressed, I just googled and tried to spoil myself. And failed because of the synopsis out there on THe Internet, they are all so inaccurate for what has already happened that I don’t trust what they say is the ending. I think because the internet people are confused by the many MANY movies that have essentially this same plot and keep conflating them together.

Bigil, the other movie we could have watched where Jackie is naked, does a similar plot but backwards with flashbacks. We meet our hero as a super cool gangster warrior type, and only later flashback to him as a happy in love boy. That would have been a lot better, if we got to see cool gangster Sunny at the beginning and then were interested in him when he became in love Sunny.
