Oh boy! Finally fun things to talk about!!! Two new Alia teasers, and SRK put out a tweet that doesn’t make sense.
First, a fun teaser trailer for RRR! Well, I think it’s fun. Alia and NTR and Ram Charan in a big fun dance to all the freedom fighters of the early 20th Century. It’s bouncy, it’s happy, it’s good dancing. And it tells us almost nothing about the movie. Well, nothing new.
Mostly I’m interested to compare it with Brahmastra! Also just released an Alia teaser. In which we learn…..nothing? She’s pretty, and she spends a lot of time looking and reacting to other people. In a variety of outfits.
Maybe what I am seeing mostly is the gaze? In Brahmastra, Alia is always looking away from us/the camera, looking at someone else in an upward adoring kind of way. In RRR, she is facing the camera, facing us. And at an equal level with the two male leads, in multiple ways. Equally literally, their heads are in a line, she isn’t looking up at them. And also equal in that she is invited into this 2 hero promo video as a major cross-Indian star.
Oh, and then also SRK put out this mysterious tweet. Might be explaining another mystery that’s been puzzling me. Dilwale left Netflix a few months back and has been in youtube rent limbo since then. I was wondering why Netflix hadn’t re-upped, or another service snapped it up. Maybe SRK is going to do something new, on his own?

Now that I think about it it’s logical – he has the rights of almost all his movies, if I’m not wrong, and many more. Why not have Red Chillies’s own OTT? I don’t mind subscribe to this one, but will it be available in Italy? If they restrict it only to India or USA I will be very angry.

Yes, but Netflix is also a website. Shemaroo tried to launch an app-only version I think and it was irritating and messy. Salman launched an app too, and then that died pretty fast.
