Happy Monday! I had a lovely relaxing weekend tidying my house and working on Xmas presents instead of seeing Bhediya, and now I am back to Most Stressful Monday Ever. I’ve got 5 calls scheduled through out the day, and I’m days behind in emails, and blech! But I shall try to relax and just think of what I can do and not what I can’t, and also work on Angie’s fun Christmas card.
Here is where you get to ask me anything from “so, you’re just not going to see movies ever again?” to “who is Manish Malhotra?” Just keep swinging back here all week as you think of new questions!
Now, question for you! In honor of Manish Malhotra’s birthday, what is your favorite Indian film outfit?
This took me forever to decide, but I think it’s this one. Deceptively simply, super flattering, and strangely practical as well:

There is a lehenga that Kalki wears in YJHD that I love…it’s hot pink and black and it’s in the scene where Aditya and Ranbir’s characters physically fight. I immediately thought of that one for some reason, but I also love Rani’s tangerine outfit in the Medley song in MDK. Most anything in a SLB movie that Deepika and Priyanka have worn and then a lot of Kareena, Anushka, and Taapsee’s Indo-Western ensembles in like all of their movies.
I haven’t seen anything Indian in the theaters since PS-1, but I did see Wakanda Forever and it was just OK, but still great because of the talent behind the production…just too much packed in one movie. They didn’t let the emotion breathe.
I still really want to see Bhediya and now An Action Hero (which is getting interesting good reviews). And I’m trying to find the time to watch Qala and other streaming new films.

Also, there is a great book called 100 Iconic Bollywood Costumes that I love…doesn’t have photo images, but I really like the artwork recreations. I own a copy.

Oh and have you ever done a listicle of your top 20 favorite costumes? That would be fun!

That would be fun! We will see, google image did something mean recently and it’s harder to paste images into posts.

I think that this is my favorite costume. It’s simple but stranly arresting – it has a very tactile vibe.

Oh yes, second that! Classic. Elegant. Needs hand-washing though. 😛

Piku for me. In terms of just things I would actually wear. Everything looks comfortable and simple and stylish.

Such a fun question, but my mind is blank now. The only thing I remember is Priyanka’s salwar from Barsaat

I realise I should choose a ChiChi outfit or a Ranjeet one, but in fact I am going for Shashi’s see-through shirts. He had some lace light blue or light yellow ones that I live.
HOWEVER I will choose ChiChi’s holographic suit as a runner up.

I was gonna complain because the see through shirts make his pudgy tummy show, but then I remembered who I was talking to and that pudgy tummy isn’t a downside for you.

SRK’s outfit with the long impractical scarves flying as he jumps around at Kajol’s sister’s wedding in K3G is my favorite outfit ever.

Never occurred to me that it was impractical until now. But you are right! Those scarves make no sense.

The first things that came to mind without a Google search were Deepika’s sparkly blue outfit from HNY during Indiawaale and Sid’s blue kurta from SOTY during Radha. The conclusion is that people need to wear blue in movies more often.

Oooo! What about Kajol’s blue dress from Janam Janam?
