Happy Sunday! I got my coffee, I got my little dog snuggled against me, I am all set to enjoy this lovely film with y’all. Unless no one shows up within the first 15 minutes in which case I cancel and do something else š
Chennai Express!
It’s on Netflix, it has great songs, SRK looks good, what’s not to love?

At 8am Chicago time I will put up an “and PLAY” comment and we will go along from there!
And PLAY

If SRK were younger, I would actually find this less acceptable I think? He’s not some spoiled brat who is refusing to grow up, he put in a good 20 years as the perfect grandson and now wants to be a brat.

Actually, second-favourite scene, now I think about it. Very important to rank scenes!

So great that the big scary goons get into the singing. Tells us right away that this isn’t REAL danger.

I wonder if Tamil Nadu is really as beautiful as this. If so, I’m putting ‘take Chennai Express’ on my bucket list!

Love how flirting-positive this sequence is. Everyone has a crush on someone and everyone wants to go to the store room!

I’m a big fan of Glasses Cousin. She and Deepika get a silent tete-a-tete of congratulations (I presume) when everything’s resolved at the end.

I love how much SRK adlibs in this movie. there most be so much random joke dialogue the had to cut out, it feels like he could keep going indefinitely on these jokes.

So that whole boat sequence was MEANINGLESS! He just ended up right back in the same position he was in before.

Ugh, it looks so nice and sunny in the movie and after this is over I have to take the dog for a walk in cold cold cold Chicago. Already dreading it.

I love how long it takes them to fall in love, or even like each other. These fight scenes are fun and it makes the love story feel more earned.

The Tamil Nadu tourist board should use this scenery as advertising.

Sholay reference! This exact sequence is how they arrive at the village in sholay, knife sharpener and wool carding and so on.

Kind of frustrating that the movie ends with a big fight scene after all the new kind of hero stuff, but on the other hand I do love a fight scene.
