Sunday WatchAlong: Baazigar! 8am Chicago Time!

Happy Sunday! I’ve got coffee ordered and being delivered shortly, the sun is out, Albie Dog has been fed, let’s do this thing! With the usual priviso that if no one shows up within the first 15-20 minutes, I cancel.

Baazigar! O Baazigar!

This is either the first or second SRKajol movie, I can never remember which. Definitely Shilpa Shetty’s first film. And it’s crazy and 90s and cute and over the top and all good things. Also, available for rent on Prime.

At 8am Chicago time, I will put up an “And PLAY!” comment and we will go along from there!

  1. 8 year old isn’t a great reader and is making me read subtitles aloud. I keep thinking watching this films will turn him into a better reader, but so far it hasn’t happened.

  2. Okay and we are at dance number 5? There is a lot of songs in this movie – but 8 year old thinks this restaurant theater looks like a bowling ally.

    • I was wondering what the questionmark was – and artistically so different from the art on the other side of the walls.

  3. Sleuth Kajol figures it out! Such a clever girl. It is like we want her to know, but we want her to love the guy who killed her sister anyway!

  4. There’s a different version of this movie where SRK hasn’t gone so far as killing anyone yet, and after this scene we see Kajol return to her Dad and seemingly work with him and then betray him. Because SRK’s intensity convinced her to turn against her own father and play a double agent.

      • No, not really! I just mean you could take the same frameworka dn make it happen that way. And now I kind of want to fanfic it that way.

SPOILERS: Race 1 kind of does this, you think the heroine has changed allegiances and then she reveals she was in love with the hero all along and just pretending.

  5. Dad just keeps falling into the mud over and over again. He can’t stay out of the mud! At least they didn’t show the dead baby though.

  6. Let’s give some credit to Neighbor Lady here! SRK may not have had a mother’s love, but this random other woman apparently made him 3 meals a day.

  7. YES! DAddy arrives now for one of the BEST death scenes EVER! I love SRK and Kajol’s car drive outting, but this MIGHT be my favorite scene in the movie.

  8. There is so much glass in this house! Also, did the neighbor lady have to make them meals every day AND feed the goldfish? The woman is a saint.

  9. I think it is a different stunt man in the knife fight, versus the scene of him falling dead after the knife fight. Must have decided they needed that one extra shot and couldn’t get the original guy back.

  10. Blood is dripping on him, that means Chopra is over his head. Throw the knife and decapitate him! No, okay run up the stairs instead.
