Happy Tiger Zinda Hai day! Early reports say it is roaring in to the box office. But I don’t necessarily believe them a) because I am a cynic; b) because the per screen international isn’t available yet and that is the only really accurate figure. Anyway, to rev us all up and because it is Salman’s Birthday Week, I thought I would post some of the best Salman songs from the past.
It can be hard to remember now, when his health issues seem to have made him unable to move freely, but back in the day Salman was BY FAR the best dancer of the Khans.
There was a reason directors kept writing in “stadium concert” type scenes for him. He was just amazing in those big dance number with a lot of back up.
Possibly the best of all of these fake-concert songs:
The other thing I love about Salman dances are the way he uses physical humor in them. This is one of my favorites, he has to pretend to be sad and dreamy and in love with someone else while Preity is watching him, but as soon as she turns her back, he gets all happy and excited and obviously in love with her herself.
Or this one, another classic from Judwaa, in which Salman manages to play both a cheerfully horny young guy, and a guilt ridden (good boy) who is being forced to act sexy.
Of course, he can also be super romantic when he wants to be.
And the all time classic, which is only a little bit plagiarized from Fosse’s “Steam Heat”, “Pehle Pehle Pyar” from Hum Aapke Hain Koun.
