Grandpa’s got a cardiologist appointment today so, for luck, and also to turn this whole stressful weekend into something fun, get ready for a whole blizzard (how is it also snowing today?) of “Dil” songs!
First, the song that started going through my head while writing the title of this post. Just replace “deewana” with “not pickle” and it totally works!

One of my favorite songs for how it says “dil”, really kind of hits the word before adding on the “bara”.
Another one that really hits the “dil”, but in a different way.

And just for something different, a nice soothing song that kind of blurs the “dil” into the whole phrase in a lovely melodic way.

Another sort of blurring into the phrase song, but a super catchy one. Can anyone hear the title of this song/movie without immediately having the song go through your head?
I’ve been hitting the 90s/2000s hards. Lets look at something new!
Another new one!
And then something classic! Featuring Raakhee, Amitji, and Vinod Khanna (pre-Oregon Osho years)
Although this is clearly Raakhee’s best “Dil” song and an excellent song to remember during a cardiologist meeting!
And to end with a stonecold classic, and the origin of the “ae dil hai mushkil” phrase.
Here’s hoping your Grandfather will cross his century -strong heart and all.

He only has 3 years and 5 months to go, so he could do it!

My all time “Dil” song is “Dil Deewana” by Lata Manageshkar from Maine Pyar Kiya – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32tNhs2Vk8U.
And another classic – Gaata Rahe Mera Dil from Dev Anand’s Guide – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63l_CnFV4Cw

Excellent choices! I was going to use the male version of Dil Deewana, but I think I have posted it way way too much. Because I like it way way too much.

I like the male version too, especially as I like the singer SP Balasubramaniam, a Telugu and Salman was one of the few who endorsed him in Hindi. However, that female version etched in my mind when the movie was released in ’89/90?
Could you please share links of your posts about the male version.

Oh dear, I don’t even remember them all, it’s just one of my favorite songs, so it pops up a lot.

That’s ok. I did not get any result earlier when I searched on Salman, SPB, Dil Deewan, etc. Now, I searched on #MPK and got the posts 🙂

Nice idea to combine your grandpa’s heart with love songs 🙂 especially thanks for the last one!!! C.I.D. is one of the Dev Anand movies I saw when I started to expand my knowledge about Hindi Cinema, but I never made the connection to Karan’s movie title 🙂

Leaving your grandpa’s heart aside, my favourite is (and may alsways be) Dil Se…

One of my favorite things about the “Dil Se” song, is that Rahman built it to the rhythm of a heartbeat. You can hear the “glub-glub” when you listen to the music. Should definitely try it on my Grandpa, see if it gets him back in rhythm.

I saw some article right before Karan’s title song came out, saying it was so difficult to right because the original ADHM song was so etched in the Indian psyche.
