Snow Songs to Cool Me Down

It is extremely hot today.  I am looking at my poor wilted flowers on the windsill in my office and feeling even more wilted than they look.  And also a wee bit worried about Dog Hazel who is all alone all day in my third floor apartment.  I left the a/c on for her, but it’s not really enough.  And what if the power goes out or something?  Poor little hot doggie!

This song not only has cooling visuals, but through some kind of crazy Rahman magic, it SOUNDS cool, right?  Like, you listen to it and it is as though a chilly breeze swept past you.

(review of Kaatru Veliyidai here)

That’s the romantic version of cold, let’s look at something that’s a little more on the emotionless and powerful side of things.  I hate the official promo version of this song, so I am using a nice internet persons version with the film opening credits.

(review of Shivaay here. Not a good movie)

Probably the coldest Indian film song EVER! Poor Kajol.

(Dilwale full coverage here)

And a film where the snow is actually a plot point.  Well, sort of, it gives him an excuse to grab her and pick her up so she doesn’t get cold.

(Review of Fidaa here)

And then a sad one, but one in which for once they are actually dressed for the code!  And which makes me want to visit Russia.  Or else re-watch Dr. Zhivago, one or the other.

(Lucky No Time for Love review)

And finally a classic, which was just mentioned in the comments, and proves both that snow is sexy, and that Arvind Swamy is the perfect husband (as if we needed any more proof of that).

(No Roja review, because Ratnam is too much for me sometimes)

And finally, photo of my poor hot doggie:

  1. You’re supposed to drink something hot to feel cool. Maybe you should watch something hot to cool down.

(Nay — that never made sense to me.)

    • Agree, imagining rolling around in the snow seems much more reasonable.

  2. Nice collection. But you’ve decided to give Yash Chopra a miss? Coz his heroines in their sleeveless blouses and chiffon saris are what comes to mind automatically with snow.Or Shammi Kapoor and his cavorting.
