Outfits! Although I am going to try to actually rank them, so that will give you something fun to argue about in the comments.
19. I know it’s iconic and helped him make his mark and all of that, but no. Just, no.
18. It’s fun, it’s silly, it’s in character, and I still hate it.

17. My reaction is similar to Madhuri’s. Mouth covering horror.

16. This is why I can never fully embrace “Suraj Hua Madham”. Kajol looks amazing, Shahrukh looks like he borrowed a shirt from my grandmother. Only she would have worn something underneath.

15. There is a certain sentimental fondness for the 90s faux-Armani suits. But setting aside the emotional feeling for them, they are just TERRIBLE. There’s a way to do baggy where it looks on purpose, and there’s a way to do it where it looks like an unfortunate accident, and this is the second.

14. Ah! That’s better. Take the jacket off, the shirt is still too big and the tie too wide, but it’s not terrible.

13. There was a time in my life, when I thought this was perfection. But then I grew older and wiser and realized that a sweater on top of a sweater is just STUPID.

12. I know the first half of Kuch Kuch is iconic for bringing western casual wear to Hindi film, and Shahrukh does look cute in it, but still no.

11. And yet, all the way back in his very first film, he had already found an outfit he would always look great in. The simple uniform.

10. Slightly better in his second famous take on it.

9. And peaking in his third.
8. Really anything standardized and tailored is good, especially when he puts his own twist on it, like the tuxedo in “Chammak Challo”.

7. The simple blazer over white shirt in Chak De.

5. Or his best looks, the traditional kurta. Casual in Raees.

4. Formal in Kal Ho Na Ho.

3. Top 3! Dear Zindagi, the casual linen look.

2. Jab Harry Met Sejal and the shirts that can barely stay closed and the jeans that are just the right amount of loose.

- And finally, I know it’s not the most objectively flattering outfit, but it is his most iconic, important, memorable, everything else outfit.

From which “film” is look no. 11 from?

The TV Serial “Fauji” (1988).

Sometimes, I laugh about his film-outfits, or I grin or I smile…and sometimes I think “why-oh-why”…but mostly, I like (or even love, especially in the last decade-movies) what he wears.
LikeLike
Agree! He’s hardly made a miss-step in recent years.

I disagree with the ranking in that the see-through white shirt is definitely THE worst. At times I think only a gay man could have chosen that, but then I realize my gay friends have better taste and sexuality is NOT an excuse or legitimate reason for terrible style.

And it has a hood!!!! Or at least, a large floppy collar.

I like KANK SRK the best!! Dev is so hot. Annoying but hot!
Btw Suhana Khan has a short film on YouTube, think it came out this month

Yep, I know about Suhana’s film. It just a student film, so I am ignoring it because I hate student films.
I feel like there has been a hot debate about KANK SRK here before, with one side saying “his hair is perfect” and the other side saying “those clothes make no sense for the character”.

You probably like Duplicate too. You people are CRAZY! All three of you (my friend in real life, Sartrekid, and you) who are the only subset of the population that enjoy Duplicate.

His Chaiyya Chaiyya outfit is my other favorite from his peak period, along with the Kal Ho Na Ho kurta, which I would put ahead of the Dear Zindagi linen look.

I would even distinguish between “outfit” and “iconic outfit”. the first and second you mention, belongs to what I would call “iconic” in regard to his movie outfits…they have an instant recall value (although most of the outfits Margaret posted are – in my eyes – ‘iconic’)

Really? I like the Kal Ho Na Ho kurta as something I would wear, but on him it is just sort of average to me.

I love Mahi Ve (I know I know, block out the ending) and he looks amazing throughout it. I’m fond of the kurta, he’s joyful and confident and it moves with him, I think it’s one of the best costumes he’s worn in a dance scene. How’s that for a stake in the ground? 🙂
LikeLike
It’s a pretty good stake! And it’s definitely a good dancing outfit, I hadn’t thought of it that way. The loose fit combined with the weighted beading makes it swing really nicely as he moves. Far far better than a western suit, or even jeans and a t-shirt.

Ooo, it is pretty bad. Although little boy Shahrukh looked really cute in it.

Part of the reason why I despise Suraj Hua Maddam is that shirt that’s not actually a shirt.

It’s ridiculous and it takes me right out of the sexiness. There is no greater crime than taking me out of the sexiness.
