Happy Wednesday! I’m still recovering from traveling last weekend and just crawling through the work week. Very eager for Saturday when all I have to do is house chores and sleep in.
Reading: I’m so boring in this section, just the usual novels for fun and guilt-inducing non-fiction that I start and then don’t complete. If you have any interesting reviews, interviews, blind item gossip stories to link to, please put them in the comments because I’ve got nothing!
Thinking: I told a white lie and I feel sooooo bad about it. We are trying to coordinate a work outing for the holidays, and I said I had plans with a friend this Friday. Which is just because I really really REALLY want to see Street Dancer. But if I consider Varun Dhawan a friend, then it is true. Is one-way friendship a thing? Can Varun be my friend even if I’m not his?
Watching: On top of my overly ambitious review schedule (I think this week’s Friday classic may end up being rescheduled to Saturday again), I am watching a Netflix series “The Inbestigators” for fun. It’s great, an Australian kids show with kids who actually feel like kids in the lead. Very happy making. Oh, and I watched the new season of Grace & Frankie on my flight, which just reminded me of the awesome Grace & Frankie inspired fanfic I wrote (here).
Listening: First, Burns and Allen radio shows! I’m to the 1940 season, and it’s really weird because Artie Shaw is the leader of their studio band and he is so obviously way way WAY too good to be a radio show studio band leader. Anyway, that sent me down an Artie Shaw detour. Very difficult man, great musician. And from the Indian side, the closest I can get to the same sound is this, only Burman and Kishore are doing with their voices what Artie Shaw did with his clarinet:
Now, question for you! I’m tempted to ask which is your favorite big band, but how many people have an answer for that? (for me, Glenn Miller. First CD I ever bought) Instead I will ask a two part question inspired by my post yesterday on heroines: Who do you think will be the next top heroine after Alia? And who do you WANT to be the next top heroine after Alia?
I am always terrible at this things, so I won’t even attempt to answer. But I will consider your answers deeply and decide which one I agree with and will cite in future.
