Friday Watchalong: Dilwale WatchAlong for Varun’s Birthday in 24 Hours, Right Here, SHAHRUKH ALERT!!!!

Woot! Friday MOVIE!!!!! Best time of the week. Extra special this week, because it is our first Shahrukh film. Prove your love for him! Join us in worship and ignore your families!

At 3pm Chicago time, we all hit “play” and then comment along on a post on the site that I will put up a few minutes in advance. One of the main reasons to pick Dilwale is ease of access, it’s on Netflix EVERYWHERE!!! Yaaay, Red Chillies and your streaming deals! So pull it up, hit play, and relax and enjoy the stupidity. And also the romance, good songs, great car chases, and so on.

  1. My love for him knows no bounds so YES I will ignore my family and watch even though I the only think I like about Dilwale is the songs. But I love the songs and I love Shah Rukh. I’m in!

    • Woooo-hoooo! And with judicious self-editing (covering his eyes) this might even be a Hux movie!

      • I just told him I’m watching it – He already told me that this movie is too scary for him so we might be able to make it work with the judicious eye covering!

        • When I was growing up, we had a bathroom with no window and a fan instead. So our system was mom and dad stopping the movie, and then we would go lock ourselves in the bathroom with the fan on until they knocked on the door and told us we could come out. This was for fight scenes, for kissing we followed a “cover the eyes until they say it is over but we can stay in the room” policy. We were very wimpy movie watchers.

          • Ha! We had a very similar policy in our house. I have been watching R-rated movies since I was a little kid but just without the scary scenes and the sex. Even now, when anything scary comes on, I cover my ears and close my eyes. My parents have Pavloved me!

          • No no, we Pavloved our parents! We would say “pause pause!” and then trot ourselves off to lock ourselves in the bathroom. And we still don’t let them use swear words around us, it’s just not proper.

          • I’m stil the person who didn’t want to see anything violent. My family was FLOORED that I would watch War but I’ll do anything (almost) for Bollywood.

  2. Agh, I completely forgot I have to monitor an online quiz and that’ll run into this time! I might hop in late, but I also might have to skip this one, and now I feel really bad. Have fun though! Happy birthday Varun!!

    • No no, hop in late! Joyomama is leaving early, so if you show up late, we will maintain a constant number of attendees. I just like round numbers 🙂

Oh, and don’t forget to leave your birthday wish for Varun on the other post. Just in case we can Control the Universe and our wishes have actual power.

    • Time is so hard! That’s why I always do “Chicago Time” instead of bothering with the time zones that no one can understand.
