Rana is Engaged and NOT to Trisha!
I care DEEPLY about this, and I bet I can make you care too. Trisha and Rana were openly dating back in the early 2010s. She was in her late 20s, so freakishly old and at the end of her career (which started when she was 19) and clearly ready for marriage. He was in his late 20s, so very young and fresh and just starting out and far too young to think of marriage. Rana also comes from a “good” film family, while Trisha comes from a middle-class background and fell into modeling which lead to acting.
They dated for a few years, publicly, and then broke up. Trisha was now 32, so her marriage time was almost out, she rushed into an engagement with a businessman. And then 5 months later broke up with him. Somehow, everyone knows it was for Rana. This was 5 years ago. For 5 years, Trisha and Rana have both been officially single, remained close friends, but have not gotten engaged or even said they are dating again. Trisha is now 36 and still unmarried, and here’s Rana, engaged to a pretty young respectable non-actress.
Now I will always love Rana of course, and since Trisha is the one who got engaged first it looks like she is the one who broke up with him to begin with. But I really really wanted older middle-class not super respectable actress Trisha to find true love with nice good family same age best friend and ex Rana!!!! I don’t want Rana going off and finding a “proper” young woman while Trisha turned her back on her respectable engagement for his sake! Why can’t these two crazy kids just find love????
Salman Made a Song!
I mean, good for him, right? All I’ve been doing is sitting around blogging and doing work-work for my job-job. Here’s Salman, writing a song, coming up with a video concept, and shooting the whole thing.
Also, I find it super amusing. It doesn’t genuinely move me at all in the way intended (love and lost love and stuff), but it does make me smile. So I guess it does move me! Good on you Salman, making me feel things!
And I bet it was a fun activity, Salman and Jackie got to shoot a video, someone else got to hold the camera, and Walescha D’Souza’s daughter (I’m guessing) got to come in at the end. Plus riding horses, painting, the usual Salman farmhouse events.
But also, oh my gosh are those bad lyrics!!!! And oh my gosh is that belt thing a strange idea! And I have seen this song mother-daughter concept before and I always find it disturbing!
On the plus side, Salman is looking gooooooood.
Sid M’s Hair is Cute
Perhaps the most important news of all! He’s got this shaggy growing out a hair cut look, and it makes him boyish in the best way. The sort of “I’m sweet and young and don’t care how I look” kind of way. And he has a cute dog. And he has a fun little joke in an instagram post! Sid M. just keeps rocketing up in my eyes.

We don’t know that! Maybe she said she wanted to get married and he didn’t and they broke up and then he thought she didn’t want to marry him any more even once he was ready to get married and this is all a terrible heartbreaking misunderstanding!

On Mother’s Day he made a very touching video about his mom and reminded my why I love him so much. I just want to hug him. And it’ll sound very shallow but he also has the most beautiful hair in this video. He should have it always like that.

Ooo, that is good hair! Do you know if he is quarentining alone? I feel like I saw something about him missing Anshula and his Grandma, and I would guess Malaika is quarentining with her son and maybe her ex as well. Poor Arjun!

Yes! Salman always wants to make us happy. I was so glad to see him at the farmhouse doing farmhouse things. His family has a big old country house in the north (like, built by his great grandpa kind of house) where he used to spend school breaks, and clearly he still loves the horses and outside and stuff.

Arrrgh Rana. But it always looked like Trisha was done with him. He really turned out to be the type that played the field and ended up with a wealthy girl who’s mom approved.

The one thing I’ve realized is South Indian media folks are just as clueless as the rest of us. I mean they have no idea when any popular actor/actress gets hitched. Alteast with Bollywood, the paps/media is mostly on the ball. They’re useless!

The Rana thing barely makes sense to me. I remember when he first came into movies he used to talk so much about his passion towards books, making good movie, and just general culture. He definitely didnt’ seem like the party boy image that he projected later, and he seemed so completely different from the typical star (I’d love to point you to these interview but they’re in Telugu with no english subs). He seemed so grounded and normal, always talking about his grandfather and how he wanted to become like him (simple, dedicated, disciplined and responsible). Rana of that time seemed like someone who’d gravitate towards an equally passionate and driven person with a similar background and values as well (he even said in an interview that he wanted someone who’d fit into his family). As the years went on, some of that does seem to remain but then the hardcore partying and playboy rumors started, things seemed to take a drastic turn. Even the kinds of telugu movies changed, he went from experimental to mass masala disguised as experimental, to almost no Telugu movies. And his fiancee seems SO different from what he was – she honestly seems to be another budding start trophy wife (much like the ones we see in Bollywood). She’s an interior designer who comes from a rich family, probably is equally as into partying as he is. I know there’s nothing wrong with being an interior designer, but in this context it’s so plain, boring and expected. Man was this disappointing news, I’d much rather have seen him with Trisha.

Yes! That is the same feeling I had about Rana. He made The Ghazi Attack all on his own, found the guy with the idea, starred in it, coordinated the cross-language release. And he was dating Trisha when she was a hardworking respected actress, not someone fun and young.
And now, an interior decorator? Maybe she will turn out to be super smart and ready to challenge him and all that, but on the face of it does not seem likely.

It really does seem to have come out of nowhere. Rana is definitely an interesting study though, especially considering how much he’s changed since. There seem to be all these wild rumors about him being a chronic drunk, drug addict and chain smoker to the point where eh needed an organ transplant or something. The person we see today seems to be a far cry from the one who started out all those years ago. His family are really simple people too, but something seems off with him and his brother recently. There’s been some news about Rana’s brother assaulting women, harassing people after he crashed into their vehicle, and some huge thing about how he exploited an aspiring actress promising her films in his dad’s production company (this incident was part of a much bigger controversy started by a woman named Sri Reddy if you want to look into that). Funny how he seemed like the next coming of Rama Naidu at the beginning, but now has so many darker things associated with him.
