The Greatest Challenge of Our Time! Rank Katrina Kaif Item Songs

Oh boy! This is gonna be hard. Sure, it’s easy to pick the one that goes on top, but how do you order the rest of them?

“Touch Me” Race. The song is so-so, but boy do I love the dress.

“Sheila Ki Jiwaani”. Tees Mehr Khan. Boring costumes, great song.

“Chikni Chameli”, Agneepath. Surely the most exhausting one to dance to.

“Kamli”, Dhoom 3. Speaking of great costume concepts!

“Suraiyya”, Thugs of Hindostan. Most original visuals, but I’m not sure that means they are good.

Okay, ready for my rankings?

  1. Sheila Ki Jawaani
  2. Touch Me
  3. Kamli
  4. Chikni Chameli
  5. Suraiyya

    • At least we agree that Suraiyya and Kamli are overrated! And Touch Me is really quite good, I’m sad it has been left behind in recent years.

  1. This is hard for me because Sheila is in a class of its own. An entire plot within a song, with cultural ramifications far beyond the flop of a movie it was in. It is spectacular, but Kamli is ALL Katrina, and even in overalls she is entrancing. A whole song of just her, and it is never boring, or expected. I saw you said it was over-rated… but then I didn’t see the ratings so I’m just going on the visuals as they stand today.

    1. Kamli
    2. Sheila
    3. Chikni Chameli (Gotta give her props as this is one of the few girl dancing for a ton of guys songs that doesn’t give me the creeps. I mean baldi gives me the creeps, but not her or the song)
    4. Suraiyaa
5.Touch Me (reminds me of the MTV videos I grew up, thus it feels like a dime a dozen to me)

    • I will accept your Kamli love. I just find it less interesting than Sheila, and not Kat’s best dance. But tastes can differ!

Chikni Chameli for sure manages that balance of “I am dancing for a bunch of guys, but it’s empowering, because actually I am making them dance for me”. She is the one in control in the room.

  2. I’m with Genevieve, mostly:
    1. Sheila – close for me too, but going with the most iconic, and it’s just pretty flawless all around.
    2. Kamli – love this one, so badass.
    3. Chikni Chameli – wow, serious moves, huge production number, but her close-ups are not so good at this point.
    4. Suraiyya – points for most original choreography, and she has the face acting figured out by now too.
    5. Touch Me – meh, don’t see this in the same league as the others. Agree the dress is cute though.

    • I think Chikni Chameli came after Sheila, so I find your face acting comment really interesting. I’m gonna say it was the director. Sheila, Farah knew exactly who the character was and what she was feeling during the song and conveyed that to Kat. Chikni Chameli, she only has the song, we don’t see her before or after, and I think the director gave her nothing to work with in terms of understanding her character.
