News About Upcoming Movies! Dear Zindagi, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, and Tubelight

A mixture of set photos, first looks, and announcements.  Thank goodness, we are preparing for the massive Independence Day through Republic Day release schedule.  My favorite time of year!

Alia released the first look for Dear Zindagi, which is below.  Before talking about the actually image, isn’t it interesting that it was Alia who released it?  And that she just posted it on twitter, no big release event or anything.  It’s shockingly lowkey for a “Shahrukh Khan Movie”.  Which makes me think again, even more, that it isn’t really a “Shahrukh Khan Movie”, but just a movie in which Shahrukh plays one of the characters.  Which will be cool!  I don’t think we’ve had a film like that since Saathiya.  Oh, excepting Dulhan Mil Gaya, because that was terrible.  And Bhootnath, because that was more of a cameo.

The image itself is interesting too.  They are both dressed so casually, and they have one of those internet filters on it which makes it even more casual in an odd way (no need to worry about perfect make-up or anything if you are sketched in).  It definitely feels like a movie that will be more about the reality than the fantasy.  That is, so long as your reality is upper class Bombayite (it takes a lot of money to wear clothes that casual).

Oh, and then Shahrukh responded, and it could be a tagline from the movie, or dialogue, or just something he felt like posting on twitter.  Which is kind of cool, that his character will sound so much like his real life twitter posts that I honestly can’t tell the difference.

Not an official first look, but there is a set photo bouncing around from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.  And I am fascinated, because it is rumored to be a Doosra Aadmi remake and this looks very much like the pivotal scene at the end of Doosra Aadmi, when Rishi takes the elevator up to see Raakhi for the last time, having had a massive fight with his wife, stayed up all night, looking rough and destroyed, and she turns him away and tells him to go back home and forget her. It’s even got a similar angle, the camera inside her apartment (the inner sanctum that she is denying him) looking out at him begging to be let inside.

Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma shoot for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

And finally, no images for this at all, but Salman has announced he is starting to film Tubelight, the Sino-Indian war period piece, in 10 days.  Which means, first, that thing is going to be coming out soon!  I am excited!  And second, when they said they heroine role isn’t large, they weren’t kidding!  Because they still haven’t cast the actress to play opposite him, even though they are about to start making the movie.

  1. Hey, they didn’t cast Anushka for Sultan till almost half the shooting was over, and that turned out all right, so let us not despair.
