TGIF: Happy Hrithik Week!

Happy Hrithik Week!  So many wonderful photos to choose from.  I am going to try to not overlap at all with last year’s.

It must be so boring for Hrithik, always looking beautiful and perfect, right?  Surely he sometimes longs to look bad in photos.  And so, to fulfill that longing, I bring you The Worst Hrithik Photos.  Well, the worst I could find.

First, he doesn’t look terrible here, but I think we can agree that all the little dudes around him have better hair, better camera faces, and are wearing their suits better than he is.  Especially tiny Hrehaan with his cynical cool guy face.

The rest of this is a little too silly for me anyway, but the face is what ruins it.  He’s failing to convey “sexy and confident” and instead landing on “dopey and doglike”.

Have you heard of the white-guy underbite dance style?  This is it.  This is every faux-cool dude at a wedding reception.

Oh photographer, whoever you are, I love you for committing to this concept.  But also, this is ridiculous!!!!  And Hrithik taking it so seriously is just making it more ridiculous.

Bad wig.

Worse wig.

How does he suddenly look like a middle-aged lesbian?  And not in a hot way?

This whole outfit is stupid.  Is he two years old?  Does he not know how to dress himself?

Too much hair.

Too little hair.  And body fat.

Hrithik nerd cosplaying just makes it all the more clear that he is not cool enough to be a nerd.

Tie and ascot?  No wonder he looks confused.  No! Don’t lose the jacket!  Keep that and lose the tie!  Oh Hrithik, you’re so sweet and dumb.

This dog has a clear attitude of “wait, what’s happening here?” Which is also how I feel seeing this photo.

Okay, a little palate cleanser to reward you.  Hrithik working out, but still with body fat.

Hrithik being very “dumb but pretty bad boy waiting outside of high school to pick you up”

And Hrithik with good hair and a good shirt.  It’s all we want!!!!!

So, discussion questions!

Which of these photos is worst? I gotta go with white guy underbite.

Which of this photos is the best? Candid while working out, definitely.  Hrithik is one of those guys who is always more handsome in candids than in photoshoots, somehow.  Like, we are used to people being handsome in photoshoots, but when it is a candid it is more the experience of seeing him in real life and realizing just how shockingly beautiful he is.  See also: Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan.

Which of these little boys is the best?  I know it is wrong to pit children against each other, but hopefully they will never find this post.  Anyway, I am torn between Hrehaan and Awesome Hair/Cool Half Smile Boy on the far right.

Bonus question:

Hrithik hairy or Hrithik hairless, nothing in between possible, who would you choose?

(Also, see what I mean about Jaya?  Pretty onscreen:

Stunningly beautiful in real life:

UPDATE: It has been pointed out that this is a shockingly Shahrukh-less TGIF.  Let me remedy that.

Shahrukh showing Hrithik how to do the big arms thing.

Some eye-candy for Hrithik, Shahrukh, and Aamir lovers.  And the Anupam lovers, I know you are out there, no judgement.  The man does have a good body.

And finally, photo that popped up when I searched for Shahrukh and Hrithik and I couldn’t resist it.  Either Shahrukh is much much shorter than I realized, or Abhishek is taller.

(Also, love the way he is hiding the cigarette from the photographers.  Probably explains his strange expression too, trying to hold in smoke)

  1. Ahh, I’ve been waiting for TGIF, and now I am sad. Hrithik really really doesn’t do it for me. He reminds me too much of Dudley Do-Right. See?

To cheer myself up, I’ll go re-read your last Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna post for all the lovely screenshots of SRK. His smiles in that song are when I first really noticed how nice his teeth are, and how much they contribute to his overall look. 🙂

Hope the Hrithik fans have a good time and hope everyone has a good weekend!

  2. Awww, thanks! Shah Rukh is a wee little tiny man–good that his heart, personality, intellect, and energy make him larger than life. 🙂 And nobody looks better in black.

Since you’re being so accommodating to Shah Rukh fans, I’ll vote on one of the Hrithik questions. I’d go for hairy Hrithik if I had to choose any Hrithik. Much more natural with his looks than the waxed/oiled up torso/arms.

    • I suspect there will be a bit of a blow out for hair Hrithik. Hairless Hrithik is just really really hairless.

  3. Ha ha I’m not a Hrithik fan either, but I like this post.
Worst photo: The second, and this “Tie and ascot” one (terrible!)
Best photo: don’t judge me, but I liked this “greek god” one. Yes, the idea was ridiculous, but Hrithik’s face and muscles look very good.
Best boy: Boy on the far right, man he will be very, very handsome in future.

    P.S Abhishek’s outfit left me speechless :/

    • The Internet has no information for me on who the far right boy is. He could be Hrehaan, but I’m not sure. All 4 boys look so similar, and the photo is just identified as “Hrithik and his sons and their friends”, but I am wondering if maybe they are cousins or something. Not sure whether or not Hrithik’s sister has kids.

          • Yes!! Finally Unni makes a part of TGIF posts!!!

Unni is beautiful even without hair (or beard), but I admit – Maybe I wouldn’t fall in love with him, if I would see him shaved first. Fortunately my first Unni’s movie was this:

BTW Please watch Oru murai vanthu parthaya for your next Monday Malayalam. It’s on youtube with subtitles.

  4. I guess I’m still one of those Hrithik fan girls that needs to comment:) I like the last three the best. When he’s overly posed or costumed it goes wrong fast. I actually kind of like him with a little chest hair and my only tiny complaint for Bang Bang was that he had too little body fat and it looks kind of gross sometimes, too ropey and dehydrated.

I agree that Hrithik rarely looks good in photo shoots…usually can pull off good candids, but the movie camera loves him. In Jodha Akhbar, Agneepath, and Dhoom 2, there are moments where his beauty is unreal.

    • That was one of the biggest disappointments with Mohenjo Daro for me, another period piece with Hrithik, a perfect chance to highlight his beauty, and instead they put him in fake perm curls and highlights and he just looked horrible.

  5. Two comments, which may represent the minority view here:

    1. Every other actor featured in the TGIF posts gets his “best” photos featured, but poor Hrithik gets his worst? I know it’s a backhanded compliment, but still not nice.

    2. While I like SRK well enough, I find his intrusion into every topic that have nothing to do with him very annoying and off-putting.

    Bonus comment:

    3. Why are the TGIF posts only about male stars? Why neglect the beautiful female stars? (of which there are many). Both men and women enjoy looking at pictures of beautiful women.

  6. 1. Yes, I read your explanation, and I already said I realized it was a backhanded compliment. 🙂

“2. I was SRK-less on this one until I got complaints, it really is what the vast majority of the readers want.”

Well, the vocal ones, at any rate. 🙂 You said that in your amendment to the post, but I think in that case a better solution would be to put up a separate “SRK fan girl TGIF” and leave the original topic as is, instead of sidelining the star you’re supposedly highlighting/celebrating. I find it especially annoying when it’s supposed to be in honor of somebody’s birthday.

    3. Is it that no one looked at them, or no one commented on them? I now you keep track of views on individual posts, so maybe it’s the former. In either case, then you seriously need to go on a “diversity building” exercise for your blog, focusing on increasing both male and lesbian readers. 🙂

    • I kind of agree with moimeme. She’s right that even straight women like to look at beautiful women…I’m a big fan of high fashion, red carpet looks, and beauty shots. I could look at women (and men) wearing Sabyasachi creations for hours! I think you need some more chicks in the TGIF series or a new series of posts celebrating the beauty of Indian actresses. I think you’ve mentioned that you don’t really get into the fashion, so I get it either way.

  7. Hey Margaret!!
I came here after a long time. How are you??
That ‘Jaya-combing-Amitabh’s-hair’ is such an adorable pic. Where is it from?? Young Amitabh and Jaya give me major feels. They look at each other so tenderly… He simply looks mesmerized with her. They must have had a real sweet love affair. The later Amitabh (post Deewar) lacks this innocence. And post his Rekha debacle, it seems like something broke in the Amit-Jaya relationship. Just speculating, but these are the vibes I get.

    • Hi! Oh dear, you are my most reliable Silly Sunday reader! Now I feel bad for writing all those Sunday posts without you around to read them. Oh! But you can vote in my “Best FanFic” Awards!

Not sure where the photo is from, I got it from The Quint, but they only identify it as an “adorable old pic”, don’t know what that means. It’s definitely cute!

      • My bad that I didn’t get to read them. Can’t wait to catch up with all your work. And will definitely vote for the best fanfic.

And have to say this, I am astounded with your Hindi film knowledge. I’ve stayed in India for most of my life but I don’t even know 10% of the stuff you know being a movie-buff myself.

And thank you! I have worked hard to build up a background of knowledge, it’s nice to have that recognized.

  8. Posed pics are just not his forte but I do love a Hrithik bad pics post that have pics I adore thus making me realize what a hopeless fangirl I can be. Of his movies, Dhoom 2 was where I found him the hottest. Jodha Akbar most majestic. There’s a moment in Krrish before he becomes a super hero, I love the innocent there. Unreal moments of something really beautiful. Worst pic is the towel draped across like his hand is in a sling ? Lmao what on earth😂😂

Jaya Bhaduri of yore was my ultimate fav. So stunning with her innate simplicity and natural charm. Sometimes I can’t reconcile the older Jaya with the younger one.

    • There really was something about young Jaya that doesn’t appear as much in her more mature roles. It’s still there in little bits, there’s a few moments in Kal Ho Na Ho where she laughs and seems so young again. And when she is playing with Aryan in the flashback at the beginning of K3G. I wish more directors would cast her in happier roles instead of serious ones!

Jodha Akbar and Agneepath stand out for me as films where Hrithik’s acting was so amazing, I actually forgot what he looked like. Especially Agneepath, his face was just a tool for his performance, not beautiful on its own to me any more.
