Happy May Day!!!! Let’s Have Some May Flowers!

May day, in addition to being the international day of labor, is also the international day of “hanging flowers and candy on your neighbor’s doors”.  And the Maypole dance and various other obviously pagan spring rituals.  But whatever, it works!  Spring keeps coming!  And to that end, let’s enjoy some pretty spring flower songs.

Gotta start with the classic most famous flower song (“Dekha Ek Kwab” from Silsila)

And then another song, kind of making fun of those songs, a young couple flirting in a public garden by pretending to sing a flower love song (“Kaise Ho Pagal” from Chashme Buddoor)

My personal favorite from the older era, Sharmila and Dharmendra flirting in a flower garden while a small child industriously licks the window of the car he/she is trapped in (he/she because it is a little boy playing a little girl) (“Bagon Mein Kaise Yeh Phool” from Chupke Chupke)

TERRIFYING MUTANT GIANT FLOWERS!!!!! (“Phool Phool Pe Bani Teri Tasveer” from Phool)

Yes, Shahrukh is secretly evil in this song, but don’t the flowers look pretty? (“Kitaben Bahut Se” from Baazigar)

So many sunflowers!!!! (“Yeh Mausam Ka Jadoo” from Hum Aapke Hain Koun)

More sunflowers! (“Kyon Hawa” from Veer-Zaara)

More Shahrukh and more flowers! (“Title” from Chennai Express)

And finally, the greatest flower song of all time (according to me) (“Tujhe Dekho” from DDLJ)

  2. I was hoping you wouldn’t ever get to see that terrible terrible song from Phool. Both Madhuri and Kumar Gaurav, who are plenty charismatic on their own makes a terrible mess with that song. She’s doing her thing on one corner and he’s doing something else on his corner. No chemistry at all.Maybe it’s because she was involved with his BIL, Sanjay Dutt at the time.

To get rid of the terrible aftertaste here’s Kumar Gaurav’s famous song ‘Dekho meine dekha hai’ from Love story set among wonderful flowers. No wonder the lovers decide to build a cottage there

    • Oh I love her! Based only on Prem Rog and her childhood cameo in Satyam Shivan Sundaram.
