New Songs! Judwaa 2 and Secret Superstar

THANK GOODNESS, promotions are starting up again for things.  Otherwise, I have no content!  Although, just you wait in about 3 weeks when we are drowning in “first looks” and “teaser trailers” for everything for the holiday season, I will be complaining about having too much content and not enough time.  But today is not that day!

First, Judwaa 2!  As you know, I rewatched the original in preparation for this release.  And I think this song might be a mooshing together (that’s the technical term) of three different songs from the original?  The look of two, and the plot point of the other.

Because it seems to have the same “boys are with the wrong girl” plot of this song.  And the white suit.

But then it has the bright cheerful tropics and swimsuits feel of these two other songs.

and also this one:

So, the first thought that springs to mind is “Boy!  We used to have so many more songs!”  And the second thought is “Boy! Those songs were so much better!”  Third thought, “wow it was cheap/clever to film both fantasy songs in the same location and just fly in the actresses on different days”.  And fourth thought, “Salman’s pants? What do we think?  Too tight?”

But mostly, a definite feel of “back in the day, things were bigger!”  Everything besides the budget that is.  Now we have this sleek and clean kind of song with rapper samples and so on and so on.  But I think I would still have the kind of kooky 3 songs up above than one perfect one.

And now, for something totally different, the new Secret Superstar song!  Which is STILL not the song I want!  The one with the big descend at the end of the teaser.

(55 seconds in.  It’s great, right?  Totally the showstopping song they are holding off to release last)

Oh well, it’s nice anyway.  And one thing I really like is how the songs are staying realistic to the kind of simple song a fairly untrained girl could sing and write.  Nothing crazy elaborate, just good simple music.

Speaking of her being a simple girl, I really hope that boy we see doesn’t turn into a love interest.  Or at least not a love interest that takes over her life.  One thing I have really liked about all the songs/teasers/trailers so far is how completely boy-free her life is.  She is trying to find herself (the first song), she loves her mother (the second song), and now she is thinking about how to build up her dreams (this song).

  1. I was kinda disappointed about Judwaa 2 only have four songs as well! But it wasn’t a total surprise since Main Tera Hero had only four as well.

I honestly didn’t really like the picturization of the two beach songs in the original but I did really like the way Aa Toh Sahi looked. In terms of the audio I really liked Duniya Mein Aaye and Tu Mere Dil Mein Bas Ja. Thinking about it, Judwaa did have a great soundtrack.

  2. Have you seen the new posters that are out for Golmaal Returns?

I haven’t seen any of the Golmaal Films and these posters don’t really make me want to see this one either.

    • I’ve seen Golmaal Returns, didn’t like it much, and these posters aren’t exactly making me interested to see this. Although I am curious if Parineeti will be fully integrated into the cast, or maybe even be a full lead. The posters look that way, and it would explain why she dropped out of Judwaa to take the role.

      • Is it just me or do the posters seem like it’s some horror-comedy?

Speaking of horror-comedies, the trailer of Nagarjuna’s next movie, Raju Gari Gadhi 2, came out recently. Apparently it’s a remake of some Malayalam movie and i think Samantha plays a ghost in the movie.

        • The posters do have kind of a dark touch to them. I could also believe thriller/comedy. But something like Tabu hires them to exorcise ghost Parineeti would be a really fun plot.

most important question from the new Nagarjuna trailer, is it possible he is wearing a wig? I don’t want it to be true, but his hair seems a bit fixed in place.

          • I don’t know of Nagarjuna wearing a wig. It’s known that Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna wear wigs but I don’t think Nagarjuna does. And his hair doesn’t look as fixed in place in his pictures that he posted on twitter and stuff so I doubt it.

    • The Golmal films are so funny!! They’re actually full of references so they won’t make be funny if those references don’t make sense. Also, the finest tushar kapoor films! It doesn’t sound like a recommendation but really, he does shine. It’s the sort of thing you don’t mind having on tv in the background

          • Okay, maybe I will gently try the series again. Well, I’ll have to see this film in theaters anyway, if I like it I might dip back into the rest of them.

          • They’re really silly. But not offensive silly. They’re middle school silly. Like 6th graders would find it hilarious but only the grown-ups would get the sexual references and bad words and the mithun references

          • Oooo, might be worth it just for the Mithun references! I finally watched Disco Dancer, and now I suddenly “get” it.

          • See?! This is what I hate about Rohit Shetty. His films are like cheap comedy shows. You just won’t get them if you’re not familiar with pop culture. But it’s nice that someone smoked a joint with Rohit and this film series was born! You can totally take your family to the theatres ro watch this.

          • Well, now you have me thinking about Ajay in Shivaay again with all the getting high. Thanks for that! I had finally rid my brain of that film after digging out the clip to use in the snow songs post.

I shall have my revenge! Put something irritating in your head. Speaking of Mithun…. I Am a Disco Dancer!!!!

  3. Also the first look posters for Padmavathi are out as well. Looks like the release date got pushed back from November 17 to December 1st.

I thought the posters looked nice but they remind me of Bajirao Mastani.

    • Yeah, they were a bit too heavy for me. I want to feel like there is something to the film besides just the look of the film. Especially with a Bhansali movie, where he so often goes for style over content.
