I hate making women battle against each other! So just take it as a given that both Preity and Urmila are awesome and gorgeous and so on and so on. But let us determine in particular cases, who is more awesome and gorgeous?
Going back to a few weeks ago, who looks best in a pink anarkali?
It’s close, I’m not in love with either of them, but I think I have to give it to Preity! Just looks a little more put together.
How about a red dress?
Definitely Urmila! She is pulling it off much better, and I don’t like the visible seam in Preity’s bodice.
How about in a gown at FilmFare?
Preity! 100%. Urmila looks nice, but Preity looks interesting.
At their wedding receptions:
Gotta give it to Preity again. That gown is stunning, love the drape of it.
With Shahrukh Khan
Gotta give it to Urmila just for how incredibly “OMG I am between Shahrukh and Aish” her face looks
Being Sexy
Absolutely Urmila. Preity never seems comfortable in those sort of “now be sexy” photos.
In hideous white outfits
Oooo, this is close! I find Preity’s outfit more personally distasteful, reminds me of a dusty old hippies house covered in macrame, but I think objectively Urmila’s is worse. And Urmila chose that outfit! At least Preity was just wearing hers in a fashion show.
With short hair
Wow, this is really tough! They both have kind of iconic short hair looks. I think I will give the slight edge to Preity. She just looks sort of “right” with short hair in a way she never does with long.
With Arjun Rampal
Well, at least he isn’t strangling her, so I will give it to Urmila.
With a dog
Trying very hard not to pick solely based on dog, and I can’t. Preity, because look at those soft little eyes!
With a baby
Urmila’s baby is better dressed, so I am giving it to her.

Really? You didn’t like Preity’s wedding reception dress? I love that dress!
But the FilmFare dress is something else. It’s the kind of western high fashion that Alia and Sonam were attempting this year, but Preity pulls it off.

It’s the hair. Indian women can’t pull off the European high hairline and hair glued to the scalp look. That’s just not the Indian aesthetic.

Preity’s blue dress is life.
In general, preity seems to know what she likes and what works well for her body type.
Urmila seems like she wears clothes that she thinks are pretty or interesting, but doesn’t really think it through past that.
Also Urmila is very petite and slender, yet simultaneously very curvy. While totally enviable, this can be a very tough body type to dress right, because clothes can easily swallow you up or make you look large. That’s why the two body-con photos, I.e. the red dress and the lingerie, are urmila’s best photos here.

Hmm. Now you are making me think about this. I think I may have been slightly unfair to Urmila just because I limited myself to formal occasions and candid shots. Urmila always looks great in costumes and in posed photos, and even in casual candids. Whereas Preity seems to look her best in formal occasions.
Which matches what you are saying, put curvy Urmila in jeans and a t-shirt, and she looks stunning. But a formal gown is harder to pull off for her. Similarly, put her in film costumes or photo shoots which are a little bit out there instead of standard clothes styles, and she looks great.
But Preity can be hit and miss in the casual candids, and even in film clothes. It’s only in the formal events where she seems to really bring it every time.

I’m going with actually nice girls. Something about their smiles and faces in these photos just makes you like them, no matter what they are wearing.

FilmFare: Tie. I almost gave it to Preity because I can’t stand the shade of lipstick Urmila is wearing. But she looks great otherwise, and I like both gowns equally.
Wedding Reception: Urmila–just love the outfit. But where is her husband?
Shah Rukh: Tie–the thing I like about both photos is that he is turned toward/tuned into both women. Sigh.
Sexy: Preity. Cannot deal with Urmila’s duckface.
Ugly White Outfit: Urmila all the way! As Asmita says–how is it possible that this hideous outfit actually looks great on her? And–I like the top, I have to admit.

Urmila and her husband are so handsy!!!! This was the only photo I could find where you could see the dress, because otherwise he was plastered against her. Preity and her husband were much more formal and let us see the dress. See:
I found Preity’s baby photo first and I was torn between making it a baby competition or a cricket players competition, because Dhoni just looks so strange!

To me, she has a sort of “friendly” kind of beauty, is what I think it is. I could never imagine being friends with Aishwarya Rai, or even Madhuri Dixit. But with Urmila, there is always that smile peaking through and she feels like she could be your friend and you shouldn’t be so scared of how beautiful she is.
