So, I’ve been watching Hindi movies for over a decade, but there are still a few I haven’t gotten around to, and others that I’ve seen but still haven’t written about. And I’ve barely started on Malayalam films. And I’ve only seen a few Tamil (Jeans, Ok Kanmani, Kandukondain Kandukondain, etc.) and Telugu (Bijjugaadi, Bahubaali, Mirchi, etc.) as well.
You have all been super nice about giving me suggestions and requests, and rather than hunting through old comments and old emails from friends whenever I need to find something to watch, I am going to put them all in one place. And if you see something missing from my list, or a miss-spelling, or anything that should be removed/changed, or an additional note I should add to the film, just note it in a comment and I will update the list!
UPDATE: I’m working through the list, the ones I’ve already written about now have links to the related post.
UPDATE 2: If it is a Hindi film from 2016 or later, just assume that I saw it opening night and wrote a regular review and summary of it, and search the full archives of the site to find those. Too many of those to list here!

You know what you really need on this blog? A search function/button. I’ve been looking for one ever since I found your blog, and haven’t found it yet, so if there is one, please point me to it. If not, please add one. I read other WordPress blogs with search buttons, so I know it is possible. I hope you can get on it after you get well.
And, apropos of just having glimpsed the list of films just above my post, I can heartily recommend Perariyatavar, a sweet, “nothing much happens” kind of movie with a power punch ending.

Yep, there’s already a search box! If you look in the side bar, there’s the “Buy My Book” link, then recent comments, and then “search” right underneath. And thanks for the Perariyatavar double recommendation!

Thanks! I don’t know how I missed it. Maybe because everything else is in bright blue, and this is in pale grey? Anyway, I’ll now use it to try and finish incomplete conversations. 🙂

If you don’t have plans to see any other movie this weekend, you should watch Saahasam Swaasaga Saagipo starring Naga Chaitanya and directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. He’s the one who directed Vinnaithandi Vaaruvaya/Ye Maaya Chesave. Saahasam Swaasaga Saagipo got pretty decent reviews so far but I haven’t gotten the chance to see it yet. Here’s the trailer:

Thanks! That is interesting. If nothing else, on a “meta” level, that Variety is covering Indian film in such detail.
And my post count is on track, in fact I’m running a little bit ahead, I have to start keeping myself down to only 3 posts a day now, if I want to hit exactly a thousand on my anniversary.

Variety has been covering the Indian film industry in depth for some years now, by which I mean, covering the industry in India, and not just in terms of the films released in the U.S. Anyway this article is from Variety Asia, so it is not surprising that they would cover it. They had a whole bunch of articles on the whole Bahubali phenomenon last year.

I really hope you’ll watch Sagara Sangamam soon. It’s like the Kagaz ke phool of classical dance. Kamal Hassan really gets to show off his skills in classical dance. SO good. And the songs are evergreen hits. 🙂
So, some lesser known Telugu films that I think you will like:
Godavari – if you can get past the unnecessary CGI element, it’s a cute litle movie. One of the first times I remember seeing a heroine who behaved like an actual person, with goals and ambitions of her own, that were fully separate from the hero’s goals.
Anukukunda oka roju – A really neat thriller. And funny, too!
Aithe – Another thriller.
Will come back with more once I think of them. 🙂

I’ll keep these in mind! Aarya 2 is next, which isn’t anything like any of those you recommended. But maybe I do a classic after that as a palate cleanser.
