I’m with holding judgement on Rangoon as a whole, but I am whole-heartedly behind Shahid Kapoor in a WWII uniform! We already got a hint of Shahid in uniform in Mausam, but not nearly enough. And not enough of men in uniform in general. More uniformed heroes! That’s what I say.
First, Shahid in Rangoon
And, for comparison, in Mausam
He’s in a flight suit, which of course makes me think of Shashi, The Best Kapoor, in Silsila.
There’s just something about a man in uniform being sweet and sensitive, right? Like Rajesh Khanna here, looking all boyish and sweet but clothed in manly power and military might.
Almost as good is when the uniform and the responsibilities with it make him so responsible and manly that he doesn’t even notice the lovely lady next to him, like Amitabh!
Oh, Indian police uniform! Why are you always so tailored and tight-fitting? At least when certain actors like Ajay Devgn wear you.
Or Salman
Even Aamir Khan got in on it!
Or Sanjay Dutt.
Ooo! We can do a “Now” and “Then” thing! Check out Sanju Baba in uniform back in the day:
You know who has been in more uniformed roles than anyone? Akshay Kumar! Check out this richness. From the innocent officer in training:
To the macho army commando:
To the police officer (well, fake police officer):
And the real police officer:
And, of course, his recent marathon 2 hour role entirely in a white dress Navy uniform:
And finally, did you really think I was going to let this go without SRK? Let us remember, his very first part was as a man in uniform!
I wonder if it was the uniform as much as the chance to cameo opposite Sridevi that made him take the role in Army?
(The wisdom of the mustache is….questionable)
And then, years later, he returned to the uniform in one of his biggest hits.
Another one!
And another!
Oh! That reminds me! Remember when he and Priyanka were in the Sex Police together? (I know it’s actually a “K”, but my mind insists on making it an “X”)
And then let me bring it on home with an orgy of Jab Tak Hain Jaan.
(Can I make a joke about how an Indian officer always has his “guns” on display?)
Oh! And one more I just ran across. He’s not technically in the uniform, but I think we can all enjoy this anyway, right? And also suddenly feel tempted to join the Indian police force, if this is an occasional perk for their female officers.

I’ve notice a Royal Enfield always seems to be part of SRK’s uniform.

Based on the films, I just assume the Royal Enfield is part of the standard Indian army equipment. Or else the most common and cheapest motorcycle model in all of INdia.

An orgy of SRK in uniform. Yum. Thank you.

I think I can make my piece with Jab Tak, if I think of it as an elaborate story setting for an SRK in uniform photo shoot.

How could you forget Hrithik Roshan in Lakshya? Much as I love all of them, he looks way more genuine than the rest of them in his army cadet uniform.

I am shocked and disappointed in myself! You are absolutely right! I would remedy this right away, except it gave me an idea for next weeks TGIF, so I won’t. But don’t worry, you WILL be getting all the Lakshya photos you need shortly.

You missed out Salman in Heroes, wbere he’s wearing a double uniform, so to speak — as a Sikh and as an army officer. Look fkr the video of the song in the Golden Temple to get his best look. I’m on my phone so can’t do the cut & paste myself, sorry.

You forgot SRK as Veer a fighter pilot from Veer Zara. The leather jacket also made an appearance there.

Okay, I have to remember the sunglasses post and this post as possibilities for my “one month of SRK” celebration in October.
