Ha! I thought of something clever! Still just a silly post, but at least with a semi-clever theme. And I did both stills and videos, so that’s something new.

7. Pride. He struggles with this a lot, doesn’t he? But I think this song most perfectly encapsulates his real and reel pride.

I discovered as I was writing this that I don’t actually have a problem with any of Shahrukh’s “sins”. In fact, I kind of love them all. Makes him seem more human when he gives in to human failings.
Do you also love them? If so, which is your favorite? Mine is pride I think. Lust put up a good fight, but in the end, I just love the way he slaps people down and puts them in their place when they don’t respect him.
And, which video/photo that I did not include best represents your favorite sin? I’m still doing pride, I think it might be this photo.

Argh, first again. Well my user name is truly well-earned. My first reaction to this post is *heart eyes* !
My favorite sin related to Shah Rukh is gluttony. Because he is so ascetic and disciplined in some ways, but not in others. There have been a couple of interviews from people who work with him saying, for example, that if someone brings food to the office or a set that he particularly likes, he does not hold back. And of course, there is his appetite for coffee and cigarettes, which I accept as part of him. As you say, it makes him human. I’m trying to paste a photo, we’ll see how it goes.

Finally, I picked gluttony because that is my sin related to him. I consistently over-indulge.

Gluttony is a good one! I think this post goes well in balance with the 9 post about why I love him. He is overall perfect, so all his little sins are just humanizing ones, not deal breakers.
Although I feel the need to mention that he also clearly drinks like someone from Delhi, so it’s not just the coffee and cigarettes and food he indulges in. But only socially and when appropriate, so I still don’t mind.

Because Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is my current favorite rewatch, and the eating competition scene is one of my favorite scenes, I also vote for gluttony. I find it interesting that he has said he doesn’t like being photographed while eating. Is it vanity (not the same as pride) or a sense of an intimate moment being made public?

I’ve always thought of it as an intimate moment. A moment when his body is doing something else besides being totally focused on presenting an image. But yes, I was thinking the same thing when I was looking for eating photos. There really aren’t that many, at least compared to how many photos there are of everything else in the entire world Shahrukh related.

Margaret, I have been reading your birthday posts avidly and loving them; I just haven’t been commenting because I was away and only had an ipad which is very annoying to type long responses on!! I have realized though that my Indian movie obsession is really in many ways a Shah Rukh obsession or at least a Hindi film obsession. These posts have just been a treat as are your DDLJ scene by scenes. Every time I’ve see that you’ve posted a new one I’m so happy. Of course I read everything else as well!!
Now, as to my favorite “sin”; I’d have to say Pride. I love it when he gloats whether it is tongue and cheek or not. Your could also have done “I’m the best”! That song really sums him up. He means it and doesn’t mean it at the same time.

Most things become sins when they are in excess…….so can we ding him for being too hot, too sweet, too sexy, too rich, too handsome, too busy, too god-like, too flirtatious, too protective, too honest, too talkative, too witty, too demanding. Naaaaah. He wears them all too well.
But there is one sin that he is surely guilty of: being a workaholic. Still, when his family accepts it and it doesn’t tear up his home or crash his health, who are we to complain. Oh, now I remember that he reproaches himself for being cluttered and disorderly. Says he pains Gauri because of it. But…I doubt there is any employee who dislikes picking up after him – I surely wouldn’t, think of the scent he leaves behind! Awww.

The lust and pride video compilations are fantastic! Such exuberance in everything he does, love it!
There are some wonderful angry scenes in his movies but surprisingly I couldn’t find any compilations. He is soooo sexy when he’s angry.

One of my friends pointed out, that is how you can always find the hero in the item song. He’s the one guy who is totally bored and uninterested in the sexy lady. Hrithik in “Chickni Chameli”, Shahrukh in “Laila”, Amitabh in anything, they are always totally disinterested.

I think when it comes to ShahRukh I would go with “greed” (“If you aren’t hungry, just be greedy”), albeit in a positive way…as for his workoholism, it is a kind of desease (or a survival strategy), I think, not a sin 😉
